When applying a coating to timber substrates it is important to ensure the moisture content of the wood substrate is below 17%.

We recommend that you always apply the ES/VFR/PRIMER before ES/VFR system is used. This primer is excellentfor sealing the wood surface from moisture absorbed from the wall behind.

LATH-AND-PLASTER CEILING

PLASTERBOARD PROTECTION CONCRETE PROTECTION

The EP/CP fi re protection coating has been extensively used on lath & plaster ceilings and wall off ering a 60 minute fi re rating. This coating system off ers an excellent solution to refurbishment projects where ceilings and walls cannot be replaced with new plasterboard products, allowing the original features to remain in Graded historical buildings.

Intumescent Systems Ltd have completed works at Aston Hall, which was converted from a hospital into luxury apartments. English Heritage did not want the ornate lath-and-plaster ceilings altered, so it was agreed to upgrade the ceilings to one hour of fi re protection. The Envirograf® EP/CP coating was coloured to match the English Heritage colour range.

The substrate surface must be clean of all dust and dry. There should be no trace of oil, grease EP/CP fi re protection coating system is very easy to apply ,and is an extremely cost eff ective way to off er up to 120 minutes fi re protection on concrete in a three coat application. The coating system is ideal for concrete structures such as car parks, reception areas and particularly in high risk fl ammable storage spaces. EP/CP has been used on a number of high profi le projects including The Channel Tunnel, The New Rolls Royce building, Sun Alliance Multi-Storey Car Park and a tunnels in Norway.

Before applying 3-2-1 or 3-2-1W, test on a small area fi rst to ensure compatibility with the material and dyes. When spraying 3-2-1 onto materials such as curtains, cardboard, etc, use justa fi ne spray to dampen the material (just like a fi ne rain – do notsoak it). Give polyurethane furniture a fi ne spray on the outer

cloth and press it into the polyurethane with your hands or a clean cloth such as a handkerchief, then spray over the outer covering material with a fi ne spray of 3-2-1W. For Christmas trees, the tree must be in earth or sand and must be watered daily.

Our new EN/F Kit consists of three 310ml tubes of specially formulated intumescent sealant. Two of which (EN/F1) are a dark grey, powerful, intumescent graphite compound (which does not aff ect the pipes and cables) that expands in a fi re sealing the service hole. The EN/F2 tube is a white intumescent sealant for use as a decorator’s fi nish, which can be over painted when fully cured.

The kit was tested numerous times in house and at the end of last year at Efectis Holland. Their test rig consisted of: a hollow plasterboard, and block wall, with cables and plastic pipes with the diameter up to 66mm.Where the plasterboard wall had service openings through we pressed in newspaper to stop the sealant from dropping down the back.

The test was a success, with the EN/F giving over 2-hours fi re integrity and from 110 down to 60 minutes insulation. After 2 hours when the EN/F had met the test criteria we cut back the plasterboard to discover that the newspaper wasn’t even burnt, just slightly discoloured, after which the test was successfully concluded.

EN/F kit is ideal for electricians, plumbers, work departments and maintenance professionals to carry in their vans or store in their workshops, providing a quick and convenient ability to seal any service openings they work on. The sealing consists of two stages:

1) Special formulated graphite mastic2) White intumescent mastic to faceoff ready for decorations

The kit can be used for aluminum, copper, plastic and steel pipes up to 66mm in diameter, as well as cables (including: armoured, MICC and fl exible type cables) up to 66mm in diameter.

It can be used in both plasterboard stud partitioning and solid substrate surfaces, like brick, block and concrete walls and ceilings.

The EN/F1 and EN/F2 are water-based materials, which become water resistant once cured.

Tested for 2 hours fi re protection and insulation in plasterboard hollow walls and brick, block walls

Tested to EN 1366-3 (2009)

EN/F is a unique sealant off ering 2 hour fi re protection for PVC, steel pipes and cables up to 66mm in diameter, in block and plaster boards.
