George Warren Brown (GWB) – at Washington University in St. Louis
Customer SynopsisGWB is one of the countries top ranked schools of Social Work. With six concentration areas of study, as well as more than four hundred field work opportunities and six leading-edge research centers, the Brown School’s program attracts masters and doctoral students from around the world.
Business SituationTo continue to advance its position in the market for social work education and research the Brown School was looking for ways to create more strategic, integrated and audience-specific communications through a variety of channels, including web and print.
Solution After evaluating several technical solutions, GWB and TOKY chose to partner with Oakwood Systems Group, who deployed a state-of-the-art website developed with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
Moss incorporated all of the design elements provided by TOKY. “One of the most interesting aspects to the site is that it doesn’t look anything like a typical SharePoint site,” according to Oakwood's lead architect on the project, “yet it contains all of the flexibility that people familiar with SharePoint would expect.”
Technologies• Microsoft Office
SharePoint Server 2007
Results
• Reduce dependence on IT. Now users can create their own content – the
Web Master simply approves the new
additions.• The impact of the new
Web Site is measurable, GWB knows who is hitting their site and
what their behavior is while on the site.
• Working to tie together the Intranet and
Internet as phase II of the project, enabling
lean IT and communications
resources.
Mary Kay Global
Customer SynopsisMary Kay Global works through a 1.6 million-strong network of independent representatives to sell more than $2.2 billion worth of cosmetics and skin care products annually.
Business SituationMary Kay’s custom intranet search technology was not providing adequate value for its corporate users, who had difficulty locating information in a timely manner. Few employees used the search function, relying instead on manual processes and individual knowledge to find the forms and information they needed.
Solution Mary Kay implemented Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 on a 2-server farm, indexing the portal itself as well as downstream documents and information. Mary Kay’s IT department built a custom, streamlined user interface and configured Office SharePoint Server 2007 based on an extensive taxonomy review performed by another internal team.
