Introducing the European Hydration Institute Hydration for health, wellness and performance
The European Hydration Institute:
•
• Created in response to the need for an authoritative source of
information to support efforts designed to ensure people across Europe are properly hydrated.
• Works with independent scientists including members of its Science Advisory Board.
• Supported by trustees, partners and collaborators who share a mutual desire to better understand the science of hydration and the way it affects health, wellness and performance.
A foundation established to advance knowledge and understanding
of all matters relating to human hydration and its effects on
health, wellness and performance.

• The Institute’s Science Advisory Board comprises European scientists
and health and nutrition experts.
• Board members are appointed as independent scientific experts and key health and nutrition opinion leaders.
• The Board is responsible for identifying research priorities and steering a program of work to advance hydration knowledge and understanding.

Working with its Science Advisory Board, the EHI:
Compiles scientific evidence about all sources of hydration and related issues in order to become the reference centre for publ ished hydration science and knowledge. This information is freely available on the EHI website.
Offers Research Grants to support research related to human hydration. In the first instance, this support will be in the form of an annual program of grants for graduate student research projects.
Advancing Science
Advancing Science Working with its Science Advisory Board, the EHI:
Undertakes and encourages scientific research to better understand the role of hydration i n h e a l t h , w e l l n e s s a n d performance.
Undertakes sociological research to understand consumer knowledge, attitudes and behaviour related to hydration.
Sharing Knowledge • Promoting the importance of hydration behaviours and
providing information to help develop greater awareness and understanding.
• Facilitating the sharing of information opinions and knowledge about hydration among scientists and healthcare professionals.
Facilitating the sharing of information, opinions and knowledge about hydration among scientists, healthcare professionals and also amongst people in general to support them in their desire to lead healthier lives.
