• Understand what MOLE is and how to access it• Customise the navigation menu• Use Edit mode and Student view• Create folders• Upload documents / files• Create web links• Use the ‘Mash-up’ tools• Add an interactive tool i.e. Turnitin• Manage content with Adaptive Release

What is MOLE?

1. Stands for “My Online Learning Environment”

2. Owned by a software company called Blackboard (version 9.1 - Hosted)

3. Is a type of VLE – Virtual Learning Environment

4. A VLE gives students access to a suite of tools to enable you to:

• Build and deploy course content• Conduct electronic assessments (e.g. quizzes/assignments)• Share information, media and resources• Foster collaboration

Why use MOLE?

1. To support student learning and staff teaching2. Aides in conducting student assessment3. Easier course administration4. Helps foster student collaboration5. Allows for mobile learning6. You can do anything you do in a classroom online

MOLE – Course roles

• Instructor: highest level – Access all areas

• Teaching Assistant: Same as instructor – but cannot enrol others in the course

• Course Builder: Create content only, no teaching

• Marker: Can only view the course

• Student: interacts and views the content you provide
