Phases of Mitosis
Interphase- Not part of Mitosis but the much longer phase before the cell splits.
Prophase- Spindles formed by microtubules.
Metaphase- Centromeres convene along metaphase plate.
Anaphase- Sister Chromatid split and move to opposite sides of the cell.
Telophase- New nuclear envelope is formed using parts of the parent cells nuclear membrane.

Interphase

Interphase
Cell prepares for division. Three stages: G1- Cell Grows. S- Chromosomes replicated. G2- Cell grows and prepares for
division.

Prophase
![Page 6: Introduction To Mitosis](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062513/5560e3ebd8b42a3d768b4c78/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Prophase
In plant cells only prophase is preceded by Preprophase.
Chromatin condenses into chromosomes.
Spindles begin for form. Motor proteins push Centrosomes
along microtubules to opposite ends of the cell.

Metaphase
![Page 8: Introduction To Mitosis](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062513/5560e3ebd8b42a3d768b4c78/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Metaphase
Spindles attach to Centromeres and chromosomes convene along Metaphase plate.
Analogous to a Tug of War between people of equal strength.

Anaphase
![Page 10: Introduction To Mitosis](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062513/5560e3ebd8b42a3d768b4c78/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Anaphase
Proteins that bind sister Chromatid are split.
Sister chromosomes are pulled apart by shortening spindles and move towards their respective centrosomes.

Telophase
![Page 12: Introduction To Mitosis](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062513/5560e3ebd8b42a3d768b4c78/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Telophase
New nuclear envelope formed from parts of the parent cells nuclear membrane.
Chromosomes are enveloped in new nuclei and are unpacked into chromatin.
Mitosis is now complete.
