Om Swastyastu
Today we will present a lesson about hydrostatic
pressure.

Density
Density of a substance with uniform composition is defined as its mass per unit volume.The formula is :
ρ = density (kg/m3)m = mass (kg)V = volume (m3)

PRESSURE
Pressure is force that acting on an object divided by its area.Mathematically:
P= Pressure ( N/m2 = Pascal) F= Force (N) A= Surface Area (m2)A

Hydrostatic Pressure
Hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted by a fluid at equilibrium due to the force of gravity.

Hydrostatic Pressure
Hydrostatic pressure can be calculated with the formula:
𝑃h=𝜌 h𝑔Where:Ph = Hydrostatic pressure (Pa or N/m2)ρ = Density of liquid (kg/m3 )g = earth’s gravity (m/s2)h = Depth (m)

Hydrostatic Pressure
If the container is open so there is atmosphere pressure from the air to the surface of liquid…
P = P0 + Ph = P0 + ρgh
The pressure become: P0 = Atmospheric pressure (1 atm = 76 cmHg = 1.013 x 105 Pa)

Known:ρ = 1 gr/cm3 = 1000 kg/m3
g = 10 m/s2
h = 50 cm = 0,5 mAsked: Ph....?

Known:Ph = 1600 N/m2
g = 10 m/s2
h = 20 cm = 0,2 mAsked: ρ....?
PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS
