Spheroidite• If a steel alloy with either pearlitic or bainitic
microstructures is heated to a temperature belowthe eutectoid and left at that temperature for a longperiod of time…– At 700 C for 18 to 24 hrs– Cementite phase appears as sphere-like particles
embedded in a continuous -ferrite matrix.
• Transformation occurs by additional carbondiffusion with no change in compositions of relativeamounts of ferrite and cementite phases!
