Development of EAP Profile 36

• A review of the EAP profile was conducted in 2012 to determine if a reduced number of questions could cut red tape for schools while still providing statistically reliable data.

• The review did not include changes to:– the wording of existing questions– question intent – frequency of responses

Development of EAP Profile 36

• Statistical analysis - to ensure the shortened profile maintained its validity and reliability

• A trial of a shortened profile - this occurred in term 4 2012 with nominated schools and regional personnel across all regions

EAP Profile 36 format

The format is similar to the previous profile and includes:

• 36 questions taken directly from the profile with 68 questions

• the same six focus areas• no changes to wording of questions and

frequency responses• no changes to the question intent

EAP Profile 36 continues to:

•record a sample of the current education adjustments made for the student

•record the range of intensity of education adjustments in each focus area

Continuing best practice

• Collaboration of the school team remains crucial in the completion of the EAP profile 36.

• When completing the profile consider :– the current curriculum planning and other

individualised plans that support the recorded adjustments

– the questions across the profile that relate to one another

Supporting documentation

Documentation may include the following:

• Curriculum planning documents identifying differentiation and adjustments

• Timetables for students and staff • Specific plans e.g. Specialised Health

Requirements, Risk Management, Individual Behaviour Support Plans

• Individual Support Plan (ISP) or equivalent• Student data/reporting.

Transition to EAP Profile 36

•Term 2 2013 - EAP Profile 36 is available in AIMS

•Schools will complete the EAP Profile 36 for students over the next three years as part of a regular profile review cycle

• The EAP Profile 36 is statistically reliable across all disability categories and sectors.

• The questions, intent and frequency remain the same.

• EAP Profile 36 is now available on AIMS.

• Recommended practice - the school team revisits the student’s EAP profile annually

• Required practice - that the EAP profile is reviewed formally by the student’s school team and approved on AIMS by the Principal every three years.

Update to Profile Expiry Date

• From the beginning of Term 2 2013 schools will no longer have the additional 2 years past the review date in AIMS to complete their profile reviews.

• From the beginning of Term 2 2013 all EAP profiles will have a review date set at 3 years from the profile approval date.

• Profiles will expire on this date.

Managing this update

• While the Profile Review Date Run Report will reflect the updated profile expiry date, actual profiles affected by this changed AIMS functionality will NOT expire until 20 September 2013.

• This provides regions and schools with two terms to manage this update.

Timeline for Update to Profile Expiry Date

•From 20 September 2013 all EAP profiles with expired review dates will have the profile status converted to ‘Profile Expired’ and be made inactive.

•A new profile will then need to be entered on AIMS.
