The market for smart devices (smart phones, tablets) keeps expanding Smart device usage is expanding from consumer to business applications. Major competitors have already launched their branded apps that enable direct print from

the smart devices to their specific printers. Ricoh has had the ability to print from mobile devices for some time now through various

methods like HotSpot and AirPrint™, but until now, we did not have a simple to use “branded” app to call our own….

The new user-friendly RICOH branded app that simplifies the printing of documents, photographs and web pages to Ricoh MFPs and Printers from most current mobile devices and it also meets the demand for an app that supports business use.

Supports mobile printing for both iOS (5.0 and higher) and Android™ (v 2.2 + ) devices. Free down load available on both the Apple® App Store™ and the App Store on Google

Play™. Designed to support both current as well as legacy Ricoh equipment, Takes advantage of more of the advanced printing capabilities of Ricoh MFP/Printers - features like: Locked Print, Paper Size, Paper Type, Paper Source, Orientation, and Color vs. B/W, Duplex, Print Quality and number of output sets directly from your mobile device. Auto Discovery of Ricoh devices using Bonjour is supported as well as the capability to add

devices manually.

Comparison of RICOH’s Mobile Print Solutions

• In order to print using the RICOH Smart Device Print app, you need to first register the MFP/Printer that you plan to print to on the smart device.

• The registration can be done using a Bonjour®, search, by specifying the host name or IP address, or by specifying the print server shared name.

Locked Print Capabilities

Printing With User Authentication


Supports LF (Location-free) Printing Improve your productivity and print your documents quicker by being

able to select another idle MFP/Printer when your designated MFP/Printer is currently being used.

Requires FlexRelease Server v2 and ELP-NX enabled MFPs and printers.

Printing Workflow: Register the FlexRelease Server on smart device using

“Search for Server” to enter the Share name. Enter “Locked Print Details” under application settings –

“User ID” and “Password”. Send print job to Share name. Print job can be released at any ELP-NX

enabled MFP/Printer using the User ID and Password.

RICOH Smart Device Print - FAQs Q: What will need to be done to activate this feature on the MFP? A: There is no activation required on the MFP for the RICOH Smart Device Print App.

The mobile device that is running the RICOH Smart Device Print must have the ability to authenticate to the network that the Ricoh MFP/Printer is located on however.

Q: Is there a cost for the RICOH Smart Device Print App? A: No, the RICOH Smart Device Print App is free. Q: What is the difference between AirPrint™ and the RICOH Smart Device Print

App? A: Both applications are designed for mobile printing however AirPrint™ is designed to

work only with Apple® based iOS devices (iPad ®, iPhone ®) and it only provides limited print functionality (number of prints) - The RICOH Smart Device Print App was specifically designed for Ricoh to maximize the capabilities of the Ricoh print engine offering the flexibility to program more print job attributes direct from your mobile device. The RICOH Smart Device Print App supports both Apple ® based iOS 5.0+ devices as well as Android™ 2.2+ based mobile print devices.

Q: How is the RICOH Smart Device Print App updated? A: As they become available, updates for the RICOH Smart Device Print App are pushed

out to your mobile device from either the from the Apple ® App Store or from the App Store on Google Play™ just like any other App that you have on that device
