1 Introduction of NCUE -1 • Formerly named Taiwan Provincial College of Education, this universit y was established in 1971, then granted university status and renamed N ational Changhua University of Education in 1989. As central Taiwan’s o nly comprehensive university specializing in teacher education, NCUE al so embraces the nature, meets the challenges, visualizes the future, se arches for excellence, and strives hard to obtain grants to create a re search-friendly environment. It has founded prizes to encourage innovat ive research while making effective use of the integrated resources to create unique characters. • NCUE’s two campuses, Jin-De and Bao-Shan, are home to seven colleg es. These comprise 21 departments, 46 graduate programs, and 15 doctora l programs to offer a well-planned and enriching study environment. • NCUE participated in the EAGLE teaching excellence project granted by the Ministry of Education in 2007, whose goals include: • 1. Quality teaching aiming at course development plus teaching evaluati on mechanism. • 2. Professional courses to refine and diversify teacher education progr ams, broaden students’ global perspectives, and augment their language abilities. • 3. Learning advancement and life counseling to enhance adaptive skills and diversify career counseling. • 4. Learning atmosphere encompassing holistic general education and phys ical fitness.
