• Picking more than 2 horses can enhance the winning chance when placing bet on Quinella and
Quinella Place
• 2 common tactics
o Banker: When you think one of your favourite horses has a higher chance to win
o Multiple: When you think your favourite horses have equal chance to win
Bet tactics for QIN and QPL
Banker
Banker must appear in
all possible combinations
Example:
• Banker - No. 8;
• Other selections –
No. 2, 5, 11
Total 3 Combinations
• Usually pick a horse which you think has a higher chance to win as the banker
• A common way of banker bet: 1 banker and 3 other selections

Total 3 combinations Total 1 combination Total $144
• Example: 19 / 06 / 2016 Sha Tin Race 6
o Customer A thinks that HAPPY METEOR (No. 3) has a high winning chance because it won
easily over the same trip recently. Also, BORNTOACHIEVE (No. 2), ELITE SPIRIT (No. 8)
and TRAVEL NUMBER ONE (No. 12) have good top three chance since they are trip winners
in this season. Therefore, customer A selects HAPPY METEOR as banker and
BORNTOACHIEVE, ELITE SPIRIT and TRAVEL NUMBER ONE as other selections to bet
on Quinella. Finally, HAPPY METEOR won the race and BORNTOACHIEVE ran second.
Customer A collected the dividend
Real Case Example
Multiple
Selected horses will be
formed of all possible
combinations
Example:
• Boxing No. 2, 5,
8,11
• Usually your favourite horses have equal chance to win
• A common way of Multiple bet: Boxing 4 horses (total 6 combinations)

• Example: 22 / 06 / 2016 Happy Valley Race 7
o APACHE SPIRIT (No. 12) won over this trip in last race. HAPPY BAO BEI (No. 5) and BLAZE
STAMINA (No. 1) have advantage by starting at inside draws. TOP BONUS (No. 8) is ridden by
Champion Jockey J Moreira. Customer A thinks these 4 horses have equal chance to win.
Therefore, he bet on Quinella Place by Multiple on the 4 selections, and he is eligible to the
Quinella Place dividend if any 2 selected horses finished in the top three positions. Finally, 3 of the
4 selections finished in the top three positions. Customer A collected the dividend

• Example (1): Select Overnight Favourites (A1), 14/05/2016 Sha Tin Race 4
o Customer A thinks LOVE SHOCK (No. 6) has a greater chance to win because it is ridden by
Champion Jockey J Moreira. And he thinks only ADVENTURER (No. 1), which won over this
trip in last race, can beat LOVE SHOCK. Both horses are grouped into A1, so it is safer for him
to bet on A1 than on LOVE SHOCK’s Win directly. Finally, LOVE SHOCK lost the race and
ADVENTURER won. Customer A collected the dividend
Why placing bet on 3 Pick 1 (Composite Win) but not on Win directly?
• Example (2): Select Overnight Mid-Pricers (A2), 22/05/2016 Sha Tin Race 4
o Customer A thinks the 1st favourite horse AMAZING KIDS (No. 3) has risk of being defeated.
However, he has no idea which horse could beat AMAZING KIDS. He also thinks other
outsiders won’t have any surprises. The highly possible horses to beat AMAZING KIDS would
be the 2nd, 3rd and 4th favourite horses, i.e. NOT LISTENIN'TOME (No. 1), PENIAPHOBIA (No.
2) and CHARLES THE GREAT (No. 5). Finally, PENIAPHOBIA won the race. Customer A

outsiders but it’s difficult to pick one as there are many outsiders. Therefore, he chooses to bet
on A3. Finally, PAKISTAN STAR (No. 6) won the race. Customer A collected the dividend
