With the onset of various challenges such as a tight
labour market as well as difficult economic times, a
"holistic approach" is needed to manage the safety,
health and well-being of workers. Over the past few
decades, Malaysia has made significant strides in
improving workplace safety and health. Yet, fatalities
and injuries continue to happen at our workplaces,
and more can be done to protect our workers.
Moving forward, strategies need to be mapped out to
build up Innovative and new ways of working with
other disciplines which are the key success factors for
the growing field of Safety & Health. With the continual
development in the science and technology, workers
and employers should take more robust actions to
improve Safety & health performance and sustain
business growth. It is vital that everyone is able to play
their part in keeping Malaysia’s economy running as
effectively and efficiently as possible.

Professor Dr.Shamsul Bahri is Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Ergonomic
lecturer in Environmental & Occupational Health, UPM. He had supervised
a total of 62 undergraduate students and 18 postgraduate students with 6
PhD students and had completed many research projects sponsored by
The Ministry of Science and Innovation and Ministry of Higher Education
with the total grant of RM1.7 million. This includes research in industrial
ergonomics including intervention of ergonomics injuries among
commercial vehicle drivers, improvement of school ergonomics and
ergonomics intervention in agriculture especially related to oil palm
industries. He is currently one of the consultant for various project with DOSH
with total gran of RM2.1 million. Under UPM, he owns industrial patent for
Ergonomic bus seat design, ergonomics furniture for school and currently
tool for harvesting free fruit bunch. He was among recipient of awards both
National and International award especially related to ergonomics
improvement among bus drivers. Besides publishing peer reviewed
publications, he had consulted DOSH and various industries in occupational
safety and health issues including noise exposure, audiometry, indoor air
quality, epidemiological study on musculoskeletal disorders and developing
the Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health Profile in 2008. He is
currently the president of Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of
Malaysia, an exco member of South East Asia Network of Ergonomics
Societies (SEANES). Member of International Ergonomics Association (IEA),
Member of Asian Council of Ergonomics Design (ACED). MQA panelist on
OSH curriculum for various private and government Universities. He is also
the national committee on developing Ergonomics risk assessment
guideline for DOSH and technical member in developing guideline for
manual handling with NIOSH.

Dr Ng Yee Guan

Dr Ng Yee Guan is currently a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia. He
has completed and obtained his PhD in Occupational Health and Safety
on February 2015. He currently teaches Industrial Hygiene as a core subject
for the Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Occupational Health at
UPM. He is also the Postgraduate Coordinator for the Faculty of Medicine
and Health Sciences, UPM.
He is actively involved in non-profit professional organization such as
Human Factors and Ergonomics Malaysia and Malaysian Industrial Hygiene
Association (MIHA). His current research work and consultation focus
primarily on Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene (such as
chemical exposure monitoring, indoor air quality, noise, vibration, etc),
Ergonomics (specifically physical ergonomics and participatory ergonomics
which includes specifically hands-arm vibration study, office ergonomics,
lighting, ergonomics assessment method, Participatory Action-Oriented
Training, etc. He also has strong foundation and passion for Industrial or
Occupational Hygiene. Much of his work were as consultant in the field of
physical and office ergonomics, noise exposure, indoor air quality,
chemical exposure assessment and monitoring, etc. He looks forward to be
involved intensively on research related to exposure assessment in terms of
methods and effects.
Dr Wong Kar Lin
Dr Wong Kar Lin graduated from the University of Singapore in 1978 (MBBS)
and obtained his Master in Occupational Medicine, Safety & Health from
Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia in 1998.
He was admitted as a member of the Academy of Occupational &
Environmental Medicine ( AOEMMM ) in January 2009.
He is the principal consultant of WONG OSHA SDN BHD specializing in OH services and

Mr Thillai Raj T. Ramanathan
Thillai Raj T. Ramanathan is currently the Chief Technology Officer at
MIMOS Berhad,
As the CTO, Thillai Raj shoulders the following responsibilities:
Oversee company-wide technology planning and development activities.
Identify emerging technology and market trends to ensure R&D remains
relevant.
Drive the software development initiatives and roll-out of proof-of-
concept solutions to key economic sectors of Malaysia.
Lead all research laboratories such as Artificial Intelligence (AI);
Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, Edge Computing and Video
Analytics.
Previous jobs were at Flextronics, Solectron Malaysia, Motorola Malaysia
Software Centre and Motorola.
Thillai Raj holds a Bachelors in Technology in Engineering from the Indian
Institute of Technology, Madras. He has also taken several post-
qualification traininigs in Performance Excellence, Software CMMi
Assessment, Six Sigma-Black Belt and Customer Management. He also has
ten patents to his name.

Prof Dr.Victor Hoe
Professor of Occupational and Public Health

Prof Dr. Victor Hoe is an Occupational and Public Health Physician with a
practice in the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). He Heads the
Academic and International Section, Department of Social and Preventive
Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya and the Occupational
Health, Safety and Environmental Unit, UMMC. He has worked with
ExxonMobil, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Social
Security Organisation (SOCSO), National Institute of Occupational Safety
and Health (NIOSH), Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Pengkalan Hulu Health Clinic
and Ministry of Health Malaysia, before joining the University of Malaya. He
has been involved in various research projects, including being part of the
multi-national research project; the CUPID (Cultural and Psychosocial
Influences on Disability), which involved researchers from 18 countries and
the Cohort study on clustering of lifestyle risk factors and understanding its
association with stress on health and wellbeing among school teachers in
Malaysia (CLUSTer). He has conducted various consultancy projects on
Occupational Health and Environmental Impact Assessment. He has
published 48 papers and abstract in peer-reviewed journals. He is the editor
of the BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, Medical Journal of Malaysia and
Journal of Health and Translational Medicine (JUMMEC). He is currently
council member for the Academy of Occupational and Environmental
Medicine Malaysia and the College of Public Health Medicine-Academy of
Medicine Malaysia, Executive member for the Malaysian Medical
Association Wilayah Branch and the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for
Public Health, and the International Commission for Occupational Health
National Secretary for Malaysia.

Mr Lee Min-Ho
Mr Lee Min-Ho is currently the Leader of Ergonomics Task Force from
Samsung Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd. He is the Samsung Malaysia
Technical Advisor of the OSH-MP 2020 Committee. Mr Lee is also the
Technical Advisor of the Compilation Committee for the Manual Handling
Guideline under DOSH. Mr Lee is the PR Ambassador of Human Factor
Ergonomics Malaysia.
Encik Shairul Baki Mohamed Saleh
Encik Shairul Baki Bin Mohamad Saleh graduated from Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia in Bachelor Science of Mechanical Engineering. After graduated
in 1993, Encik Shairul joined multinational company Hewlett Packard as
Automation Engineer. He then joined Proton and was appointed as a
Manager from Metal Stamping plant as a General Manager. In 2016 he
diversified in training and consultancy business with his new company, LPS
Learning Platform.Looking for specifically at LPS Learning Platform, he
produced many technical modules and produced six well trained trainers
in all manufacturing processes. LPS Learning Platform has been appointed
as a training and consultancy provider for Malaysia Automotive Institute
(MAI),Malaysia Productivity Corporation, DOSH and a few technical
colleges.One of the latest contribution in his appointment as a task force
leader on the development of DOSH’s guideline on safe use of press
machine

Encik Mohamad A’Azizan Mustafa
Encik Mohamad A’Azizan Mustafa is currently the Senior Environmental,
Safety and Health Manager from Osram Opto Semiconductors (M) Sdn
Bhd. He is an experience Occupational Safety & Health practitioner with
more than 25 years of industrial experience in the fields of Occupational
Safety & Health, Environmental, Engineering and Operation from steel,
textile, rubber and semiconductor industries including wafer manufacturing.
By profession he is a graduate in mechanical engineering and he furthers
his study to MBA and Master Degree in Occupational Safety and Health
Management.
As for occupational safety & health and environment, he has led the
organizations in the establishment of Occupational Safety & Health
management system and also the Environmental management system. He
also passes the lead auditor course and conducts an actual audit for
organization improvement.
Currently, he is qualified and certified trainer for NIOSH & NOSH Global for
Safety & Health Officer program and other in-house trainings. He also been
invited by various organization, university, government and consultant to
conduct and facilitate Occupational Safety & Health and Environment
training and seminars.

Ir. Dr. Christina Phang
Ir. Dr. Christina Phang is a Fellow of the IChemE and a Professional Process
Safety Engineer. She was awarded the 2016 IChemE Franklin Medal in
recognition of her outstanding contribution to the field of safety and loss
prevention. She is also a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of
Engineers (BEM) in Malaysia and Professional Engineers Board (PEB) in
Singapore. She has close to 30 years’ experience in safety and risk
management predominantly spent working in the oil and gas sector
providing advice relating to safety engineering during project
development, commissioning and construction through to operational and
decommissioning phases. Christina is a Principal Partner at ERM based in
Kuala Lumpur and currently leads ERM’s Safety & Technical Risk services in
Asia Pacific.

Encik Mohamed Rawidean Mohd
Kassim
Mohamed Rawidean Mohd Kassim has worked for more than 30 years in
MIMOS, Ministry of International Trade and Industry. MIMOS is the
government applied and industrial R&D arm in IT and microelectronics. He
joined MIMOS as a Research Fellow and currently manager in the
Technology Deployment department. His research interest area are
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), Internet of Things (IoT), Real-Time Systems
and Multimedia. He has participated in more than 30 national and
international R&D projects as a team member, or leader on technical and
management positions.
The IEEE Computer Society (USA) have appointed him as an IEEE DVP
(Distinguished Visitor Program) Speaker for 2018-2020. Mohamed Rawidean
is an IEEE Senior Member. He was the IEEE Computer Society Malaysia
Chapter Chairman from 2002 to 2013. He has written conference papers,
one book chapter (‘Sensors for Everyday Life’, Springer Pub., 2017) and
technical reports. He is also a member of the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP)
for Monash University Malaysia and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).
Mohamed Rawidean has organized IEEE national and international
conferences, seminars and workshops. He is the Founding Chairman for IEEE
Conference on Open Systems (ICOS), Program Chair and Technical
Program Chair for several IEEE conferences. He has provided many
keynotes, invited industrial talks and workshops in WSN, Intelligent Real-Time
Systems and IoT.
He has eight patents registered under his name, mostly in wireless sensors,
networks and sensor applications. He received his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in
the Computer Sciences (1987) from National University of Malaysia, and his
M.Sc. in Interacting Systems Design (1993) from Loughborough University of
Technology, United Kingdom. He obtained his Six Sigma Black Belt in 2009
from Motorola University.
