Introduction

Launched in 1997, the FISAC-IRSF World Rope Skipping Championships is an international

event held biyearly that welcome skippers at every level from all over the world. This year, we

are pleased to announce that the FISAC-IRSF World Rope Skipping Championships 2018

(WC2018) will be held in Shanghai, China from July 24 to August 2, 2018, with the aim to

promote rope skipping as a beneficial fitness activity, as well as to engage and excite the

interest of young people in skipping. We will strive to host a spectacular event for the skippers,

coaches, judges and also the public.

Host City

Shanghai serves as the largest base of Chinese industrial technology. The important seaport

and China’s largest commercial and financial center, Shanghai, draws the attention of the

whole world.

In addition to its modernization, the city's multicultural flair endows it with a unique glamour.

Here, one finds the perfect blend of cultures, the modern and the traditional, and the western

and the oriental. New skyscrapers and old Shikumen together draw the skyline of the city.

Western customs and Chinese traditions intertwined and formed the city's culture, making a

visitor's stay memorable.

Shanghai has two international airports: Pudong International and Hongqiao International, the

former of which has the third highest traffic in China. Pudong is the main airport.

The Organizer

CRSA (China Rope Skipping Association) was founded in 2012, it is the national official

organization for governing rope skipping in China. Its tasks include coaches and judges

training, competition management, and official communication with FISAC-IRSF.

CRSA has successfully hosted the three national rope skipping league competitions, national

championships, etc. In addition, CRSA also organized the national Chinese team to

participate in the 2014 and 2016 FISAC-IRSF World Championships, and the Asian Rope

Skipping Championships in 2013, 2015, and 2017. CRSA has accumulated much experience

with international events organization.

Competition Venue: The Gymnasium of Shanghai

University of Finance and Economics

The gymnasium of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is a modern

comprehensive gymnasium, which is located in the northeast end of the campus. The

gymnasium covers an area of 23,482 square meters, with a total construction area of 19,466

square meters. This gymnasium can undertake a variety of sports events is designed

according to the standard of medium sports venues. The gymnasium building is divided into

the main stadium and gymnasium training warm-up area.

All aspects of the gymnasium meet the requirements of international events. The gymnasium

is completely equipped with multipurpose activity rooms, an athletes’ lounge, judges’ room,

offices, and meeting rooms. The construction of the space layout, structure, system

organization, and construction materials have adopted a series of energy saving measures,

including natural lighting, heat insulation, energy-saving materials, equipment intelligent

monitoring, etc.

In 2014 and 2015 the China Rope Skipping League Competition was successfully held in the

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

Hotels

All participants will be accommodated in hotels which are close to the competition venue.

(The hotel fee is included in the package price.) All of the three candidate hotels will be within

a short walking or driving distance of the competition venue, and CRSA will arrange

transportation to and from the venue during the competition days.

Participants will share rooms with each other: 2 persons per room. If desired, you can pay an

additional fee (+70USD/day) and get a single room.

Howard Johnson Caida Plaza Hotel

Howard Johnson Caida Plaza Hotel Shanghai is a modern, urban city hotel offering

convenient solutions. It is conveniently located next to the Shanghai University of Finance &

Economics in the Yangpu District.

This hotel offers 269 rooms (about 470 beds) and more than 1,000 square meters of

comprehensive space for important business and social events, including a 450 square meter

Grand Ballroom and seven other function rooms.

High-end audio-visual equipment is available, as well as advanced simultaneous

interpretation equipment and wireless broadband internet access in all meeting spaces.

Baolong Hotel Shanghai

The Baolong Hotel is a full-service hotel for convenient business travel，productive meeting

and cost weekend breaks, which is 2hm from the Shanghai University of Finance &

Economics.

This hotel offers 321 rooms (about 550 beds) and comprehensive meeting rooms for

important business and social events.

Audio-visual equipment is available, as well as advanced simultaneous interpretation

equipment and wireless broadband internet access in all meeting spaces.

Guangdong Hotel Shanghai

The Guangdong Hotel (Shanghai) is located on Yi Xian Road.

The hotel is 23 stories high and has 328 rooms (about 550 beds). The European-style rooms

portray bring you the passion and romance, whereas the Japanese-style rooms remind you of

the tranquility found in nature.

The complete business facilities, which include a business center, multi-function conference,

ticket center and broad-band internet, make people feel relaxed.

Transportation

CRSA will provide the transport from both Shanghai airports to the hotels on the arrival days,

and back to the airports on the departure days.

The two airports are:

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (IATA code PVG), approx. 1 h drive to the

hotels

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (IATA code SHA), approx. 40 min drive to

the hotels

The time from the airports to the hotels depends on the traffic. CRSA will also provide shuttle

bus service from each of the hotels to the venue on the competition days.

Visa application information

CRSA will provide invitation letters to Chinese Embassy in participants’ countries to allow for

smooth visa processing.

Additional Day

It is possible to arrive one day early (arrive July 23) or stay one day later (depart August 3).

The additional day fee is $100 USD (including accommodation and meals).

The fee for an extra night during the WC (July 26 and 28) is $125 USD (including

accommodation, local transport, meals, and access to the sport arena as a spectator)

Spectator Information

The fee for a spectator pass for the World Championships, World Youth Tournament and

World Cup is 60 RMB for the entire week. Spectators can purchase tickets at the venue.
