Who we are

Leading worldwide ecosystem services network that connects over 3000

people and 40 organizations from more than 85 countries to enhance the

science, policy and practical application of ecosystem services for conservation

and sustainable development.

ESP was founded in 2008.



To ensure the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of ecosystems and their

services as common assets to enable inclusive wellbeing for all, including future

generations.

For this purpose, ESP :

- develops the science of the concept of ecosystem services and its application in

policy and practice for the conservation of nature and sustainable development.

- builds strong networks of individuals, public and private organisations and businesses

to promote and facilitate communication, coordination and cooperation.

- enhances and encourages a diversity of approaches, while reducing unnecessary duplication of effort in the conceptualisation and application of the ecosystem services

concept.
