Introducing the logos

The Fairtrade Foundation

Fairtrade products (such as tea, coffee, bananas and chocolate) mean that the farmers who grow them get a fair price for them. This means that they get paid a price for their produce that is not too low.

Fairtrade products also mean that the people working on the farms that grow the produce have decent conditions to work in.

The Fairtrade Foundation works hard to try and get rid of poverty and make sure that farmers and workers in developing countries are treated fairly.

Cruelty Free InternationalThe global campaign to end animal testing for cosmetics

Kirstie Pollard
Needs to be Cruelty Free InternationalThe global campaign to end animal testing for cosmetics

Cruelty Free International works around the world to encourage governments to introduce a ban on the testing of animals for cosmetic products (make-up, perfumes, after shave) and their ingredients.

Over 80% of the world allows animals to be used in cosmetics tests that Cruelty Free International considers to be cruel and unnecessary.

Cruelty Free International believes that there are better and less cruel ways of testing new things that don’t involve using animals, to see if they’re safe for humans.

Forest Stewardship Council

FSC® N001619

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC ) works around the world to encourage countries to grow trees in a responsible and caring manner.

When people see the FSC logo, they know that the products they are buying (birthday cards, tables, paper, etc) contain wood that has been grown in a well-looked after and carefully managed forest or from recycled material.

When trees are harvested, new trees are replanted or allowed to regenerate naturally.

Marine Stewardship Council

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) encourages fishers around the world to make sure that oceans and seas are being cared for and not being over-fished.

This means that there will always be enough fish to eat in the future, and that other sea creatures including turtles, sharks, whales, and penguins are protected.

When customers see the MSC logo, they know that the fish they are buying has been caught in an area where the ocean and seas are cared for.

What we mean by BRAND and LOGO

BrandWhen we talk about a ‘brand’, what we mean is the company or organisation that make particular goods or products. For example, Apple is a brand that makes different types of products such as iPads, iPods and iPhones.

LogoA logo is normally a symbol or picture that is directly linked to a company, organisation or product that allows people to recognise where it comes from very quickly. The more a logo is advertised around the world, the more people will know the company name or organisation linked to the logo.
