The Project Engineering Tools (PET) program is

designed to perform activities and produce documents

for instrumentation, electrical and mechanical

engineers and designers in the oil & gas, power and

chemical industries

Project Engineering Tools was originall! named

Instrument "aster The name was changed to reflectthe program#s change in focus from solel! instrument

engineering and design to overall project engineering

The roots of Project Engineering Tools go %ac to aseries of 'P1* calculator programs for controlvalves, relief valves, and orifice plates in 1+-

These programs were migrated to the I." P*platform in 1+$

/n organi0ed (O2 %ased) program was developedin 1+3 This program had an Instrument Inde4,process data for simple fluids, calculations, datasheets (-), and a *2 I5O 6ist There were noinstrument design capa%ilities at this time

/ll Project Engineering Tools data%ase forms have a 2ort dropdown %o4 This %o4 is located in the upper of

header portion of each data entr! form 8se the dropdown %o4 to select availa%le ta%le inde4es

/n inde4 is the tool that the data%ase engine uses to remem%er where values are 9hen an inde4 isspecified on a field, (or group of fields), the data%ase engine loos at each value in the field and creates

a file that notes each values location (record num%er) in the ta%le This maes it eas! and fast for the

data%ase engine to find the value %eing searched for /ll inde4es created %! Project Engineering Tools are

maintained This means that the data%ase engine automaticall! updates the inde4 file ever! time the

ta%le is updated

The 2elect Bields Brom Ta%le list %o4 displa!s the data%ase fields in the ta%le, sorted alpha%eticall! The 2elect

Ta%le Inde4 list %o4 displa!s e4isting inde4es 2electing an inde4 from the 2elect Ta%le Inde4 list %o4 will show

the inde4 field order in the Bields In Inde4 displa!

To add a new inde4 select f ields from the 2elect Bields Brom Ta%le list %o4 %! highlighting the desired field and

pressing the 2elect Bield .utton The field names will %e automaticall! separated %! a semicolon

2pecif! a uni>ue name for the inde4

Press the /dd Inde4 %utton to start the inde4ing process / message will then %e displa!ed indicating whether the
