itiNErary... Days 1-2 Venice Start the adventure in one of the
most romantic cities in the world. Work up an appetite for some
delicious cicheti by exploring the narrow streets and hundreds of
tiny bridges crossing the winding canals. Take a vaporetto over
to the island of San Giorgio Maggiore and climb the bell tower
for the best view over the city. Use free time to enjoy the sights
including the Rialto Bridge, the Piazza di San Marco and the Bridge
of Sighs. Indulge in a relaxing gondola ride to see Venice from
the waterways. Day 3 Modena Stock up on the region’s famous
balsamic vinegar at an acetaia, a house where the famous dressing
is made in the attic. Don’t leave town without feasting on Modena’s
specialities of prosciutto, tortellini and zampone - stuffed pig’s
trotter! Days 4-5 cinque terre Travel to the stunning stretch of
coast known as the Cinque Terre. Walk or catch a train between the
five towns and enjoy sweeping views across the Mediterranean.
Rejuvenate at the end of the day with a dip in the balmy waters,
then indulge in Liguria’s famous pesto washed down with a
glass of local wine. Days 6-7 Pisa/Florence After marvelling at
the Leaning Tower of Pisa, appreciate art treasures in Tuscany’s
romantic capital. Perhaps visit the Galleria dell’Accademia and
the Uffizi Gallery, then walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo to see
Florence at dusk. Days 8-9 Perugia/spello Beautifully preserved
Perugia is a great base for exploring Umbria. Take a day trip to the
medieval town of Spello to sample local wines and food at a quaint
enoteca. Days 10-12 Naples/sorrento Look out for pizzerias
bearing the words ‘la vera pizza napolitana’ and decide if Naples
really does have the best pizza in the world. Enjoy time wandering
through the incredible remnants of Pompeii on a day trip and take
the opportunity to ascend the slopes of nearby Vesuvius. Continue
to the seaside town of Sorrento to soak up sweeping vistas over
the azure sea. Days 13-15 rome Discover one of the world’s
greatest cities, famed for its ancient ruins and incredible food. Go
on an orientation walk and see the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Trevi
Fountain and the Spanish Steps, then enjoy free time to explore
further. Why not spend a day visiting the Vatican City to marvel at
St Peter’s Basillica, then indulge in a final Italian feast?

itiNErary... Day 1 Paris Spend a few extra days exploring this
romantic city before the adventure begins. Why not scale the Eiffel
Tower, visit the Louvre, take a stroll along the Champs Elysees or
pull up a chair at a streetside cafe to watch the passing parade of
chic Parisians? Perhaps end the day with a sunset picnic of local
wine and cheese overlooking the city from the Sacre Coeur in
Montmartre. Days 2-3 Dijon/Beaune Burgundy is one of France’s
richest provinces - historically, culturally, gastronomically and
economically - and Dijon is an excellent base from which to explore
it. Spend time discovering Dijon’s Romanesque architecture,
narrow streets and fabulous wines, then travel to delightful Beaune
to savour a meal of local specialities and visit some of Burgundy’s
world-famous vineyards. Days 4-5 Provence Journey by train to
the picturesque Provencal town of Avignon, home to French-born
popes for more than a century. Marvel at the world’s largest Gothic
palace, the Palais des Papes, and the remains of the 12th century
Pont St-Benezet. In free time, visit some of the Provencale towns
such as Orange or Nimes or marvel at the incredible engineering
skills of the ancient Romans at the stately Pont du Gard aqueduct.
Be sure to sample some of the region’s hearty cuisine at a local
bistro. Days 6-8 Nice/Monaco Explore the stylish Cote d’Azur
from the lovely seaside city of Nice. Live it up with Europe’s high
rollers on a day trip to Monaco - perhaps drop by the famed Monte
Carlo Casino. Days 9-10 cinque terre With sheer mountains
high above and the sparkling sea below, the coastal path that
connects these five pastel villages is spectacular. Walk through
hillside olive groves and vineyards to visit the towns, then take a
dip in the Mediterranean. Relax at the end of the day over a feast
of local cusine. Days 11-13 Pisa/Florence Stop in at the Leaning
Tower, then peruse the statues and buildings of Italy’s ‘outdoor
museum’. Take in the best of Florence including the Piazzale
Michelangelo and the Ponte Vecchio, and sample local produce
on a daytrip to the Chianti region. Days 14-15 rome Hectic and
timeless, the ‘Eternal City’ is home to many amazing sights. Why
not stay on after this trip ends to explore the Colosseum and the
Vatican City, and throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain?

itiNErary... Days 1-2 istanbul Step into a magical world of
labyrinthine bazaars and mysterious mosques. Discover hidden
gems with a walk down the city’s backstreets. Marvel at the Islamic
architecture of the Blue Mosque, regarded as the finest mosque
on the planet with six minarets and outstanding tile work. Those
looking to shop up a storm will delight in the Grand Bazaar, packed
with more than 4,000 shops. Days 3-4 Goreme With its bizarre
rock formations rising out of the ground like fairy chimneys, the
surreal landscape of Cappadocia is sure to captivate. Work up an
appetite exploring rock-hewn churches, cave homes and dreamlike
valleys, then join a local family in their home for a delicious feast.
Day 5 Konya Boasting one of the largest universities in Turkey, yet
still known for its relative conservatism, konya is located in central
Anatolia. Perhaps visit the shrine of the great mystic Rumi and
discover the beauty of his poetry, or wander the sprawl of the local
bazaar and bargain for handicrafts. Day 6 antalya Set against
the pine-clad Bey Mountains, beautiful Antalya awaits. Admire
historic houses and soak up an old-world Ottoman atmosphere
while exploring the township of kaleici. Head to the Roman-built
harbour to enjoy great seafood. Days 7-8 Kas With its cobbled
streets and whitewashed walls, charming kas makes a great base
for enjoying the Mediterranean. Take a dip in the balmy sea then
spend a day cruising the nearby islands - sailing over a sunken city
is a strange and beguiling experience. Days 9-10 Kayakoy Mingle
with locals while enjoying a glass of steaming tea, then discover
the abandoned Greek houses of kayakoy. Walk the Lycian Way
to picture-perfect Oludeniz and enjoy a dip in its famous lagoon.
Days 11-12 selcuk Visit Ephesus, the best-preserved ancient
city in Turkey and the site of the ruined Roman amphitheatre.
Learn to make delicious gozleme before enjoying some local fruit
wines in nearby Sirince. Day 13 Pamukkale Pamukkale’s chalky
terraces have fascinated travellers for thousands of years. Soak up
the beauty of the area before heading off to ancient Hierapolis.
Days 14-15 istanbul The trip ends where it began, amid the
spectacular buildings and colouful markets of incredible Istanbul.
