INTRANASAL DRUG

DELIVERY TO BRAIN

AN APPROACH TO BYPASS BLOOD BRAIN BARRIER

Page 2: Intranasal drug delivery to brain

ABSTRACT As the people have been suffering from many

CNS disorders, like Alzheimers disease, spinal cord injuries, parkinsons disease, brain strokes etc., so many drugs have been developed but they failed in showing the concentration required for action. But this drug delivery is a targeted drug delivery where the drug directly enters into the brain. Fortunately as there is a direct connection to brain via Olfactory lobe which is responsible for olfaction, it is easy to deliver drugs to CNS. This drug delivery does not need modification of drug, no first pass metabolism and there are many advantages with some limitations.

Drug delivery

Def: Movement of drug from the site of administration.

If we want to understand drugdelivery in a best a best manner it depends on how best we understand Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics

Pharmacokinetics.-what a body does to drug

Pharmacodynamics.-what a drug does to body
