The aim of lean production is to synchronize supply processes within the production process.
Lean production: For this purpose, tugger trains are being increasingly deployed in practice for in-house transport as they allow the frequent provision of small quantities of the materials required and promise increased cost-effectiveness in the sector of intralogistical material supply.

What are tugger trains?
Tugger trains are in-house transport solutions used to transport materials within the plant as efficiently as possible.This type of transport is mainly used to support just-in-time and just-in-sequence production processes. The tractor unit drives through the plant pulling behind it wagons which can be individually loaded according to in-plant require-ments.
Materials can be efficiently transported from and to the processing machines or assembly stations, which replaces supply by forklift trucks.

Milk-run trains
N.B.: “milk-run” gets its name originally from the milkman who comes
to the house leaving full milk bottles and taking the empties with him.
This system was transferred to procurement logistics and material supply in
the production industry.
In a milk-run system, materials or goods are transported within a regular cycle whereby volume, time and distance have normally been fixed. This system increases the supply frequency of materials and leads to a more evenly distributed utilization of capacity within the given time slot.
In production processes, existing buffer stock levels and non- documented leftover stock are eliminated and the general level of inventory is clearly reduced.
Furthermore, converting to a milk-run system can lead to con-siderable savings in labor costs and machine costs, savings potential which can be then deployed for other efficient tasks along the value creation chain..
LKE has developed a trailer system for tugger trains on which a variety of common standard load carriers can be transported; e.g., Euro-pallets or SLC boxes.
In order to ensure directional stability, these can be fitted with the virtual coupling and drawbar system. Within the chassis systems offered, e.g., Ackermann steering, this system provides an excellent price-performance ratio.

LKE has developed a trailer system for a variety of common standard load carriers for use on tugger trains for material supply on which, for example Euro-pallets or SLC boxes can be transported. The product solutions shown here can each be used in the train and can be loaded and unloaded from both sides allowing the train system to be aligned efficiently to your operating requirements.
