Interview 1 – Joseph, Age 47

The one on the left appeals more to me, the picture seems a lot clearer and not knowing either artist, the ad on the left indicates I may enjoy the music as the on the right looks like its been designed for the younger generation and I don’t think I can relate to the genre.

The one on left looks content , confident , empowered and at ease with herself, whereas the ad on the right appears to be designed for a certain genre following, possibly a younger generation.

Reggae – normally the red gold & green background, couple of dreadlocks characters.

Not really as it’s the musician/band that appeals to me first and foremost and normally I refer to any previews and write ups and may of heard of most of tracks on the radio.

Feedback from critics and star ratings indicate how good an album is and their write ups may influence my decision to buy the it.

Interview 2 – Jade, Age 16

The second one appeals to me more as it is unique and very abstract.

The first poster seems to be about her appearance rather her music as her pictures takes up most of the room where as the second one doesn’t have any kind of representation of women.

Indie/Rock – would probably have a picture which has nothing to do with anything or stereotypical instruments such as a guitar or drums.

R&B – a photo of the artist posing, taking up most of the room on the page.

Magazine advertisements sometimes remind that albums are coming so in that yes I would purchase them, but normally it wouldn’t as I buy albums If I like the music it has in it.

Good reviews and also a big colorful or interesting image on the advertisement.

Interview 3 – Max, Age 30

The first one of the woman in the blue dress as it clear and simple of who she is and what she is advertising where as the one on the right has a very confusing picture and also the font is uneasy to read.

I don’t think the second one has any representation of woman positively or negatively as the picture is unclear. I think the first one shows woman negatively due that she has to wear a short and lay seductively to sell her album and this may show doesn’t believe in her music and has to have something extra to do better with her sales.

Jazz/Soul – The artist or the band happily playing or singing their music or jazz instruments such as a saxophone.

Depending on who the artist/ band were and what album it is as if they are an artist I like I wouldn’t need to be persuaded but I wasn’t sure on the artist then a good advertisement may make me swing in the favour of the artist and buy the album.

The main thing would be to see what critics have said to see if it was a good album and if it was then they would present that on the advertisement. I would also look at the image of the artist to see if they do not look to fake as music comes from the heart.
