DENIM N REALITYTHE INSPIRATION, AND BRIEF STORY

Denim N Reality (DNR) was born on 2011 when local brand from Jakarta and Bandung reach its peak when it comes to promotion between Indonesian youth. Some of the brands even go international and it rooted from a core study from some campus that re-quired its students to build a new business. According to Brian D Sumito, the creator and currently managing director of DNR, he firstly inspired to create brand and building a busi-ness to break the image of his elite school that people not known much can actually create a business. From that idea, he gets inspired and motivated to build the current brand. “I never regret having this business, although it has some ups and downs”, quot-ed from Brian.

THE PASSIONATE EFFECT

Brian claims that the way to stay passionate between the long process of fashion busi-ness development is to stay humble and stay stupid. He admits to have no background in fashion, just his guts to had a roadtrip to Bandung along with his local cousin and starts to find source for the denim produc-tion. The other thing that he pointed is that entrepreneurs had to avoid being cocky and stay as humble as possible, listen to people with experience to absorb more knowledge. Don’t be afraid to do something, while we are able to make mistakes, do it now instead of later.

“This business is a true blessing from Je-sus Christ, with His work among the process within these two years, all from production, promotion, and selling.” The faithful humble owner says there are many people and fac-tors that help him a lot, for instance the em-ployment, critics, suggestions, and his loyal friends that give a hand without intention but helping. From a tough earlier days of col-lege, motivated to make his parents’ proud, and also his passion in creating something in his life, Brian keeps his passion alive within his well-known business.

DENIM AND REALITY

The DNR concept goes from its literal brand, which is denim, and reality. Brian wish to cre-ate a brand that can be a “part of reality” from someone’s life. Everyone must have been have a denim jeans in his closet, and from this ba-sic concept, it all applied in Denim and Reality collection. Youth, fashion enthusiast, and den-im lovers become the target market and his few years goal is to have DNR own store and go international.

MESSAGE FROM THE ENTREPRENEUR

“For those who are still looking for their true self, find it now during college days. Don’t be afraid to step up, because when you have pas-sion in certain parts, then go for it. Don’t re-gret it when the time has passed and you will regret it your whole life. I never regret pursuing my passion which is creating DNR, and looking back, all my failures are actually building my-self to be better in the future”
