Verizon Open Development Initiative

• Verizon won a swath of 700 band Spectrum in early 2008 in which the Auction process required the winner to “open” their network. Verizon’s solution was the Open Development Initiative

• Formal business relationship w/ VzW is not required

• Process is 4 weeks instead of 4-5 months

• Testing = 3 weeks

• Formal approval = 1 week

• FCC Cert for the device is the only requirement to begin the submission process

• Lab Conducted testing - Radio, SMS, EMS, Data Retry, etc.
