Interspeech 2018 will be held during September 2-6, 2018 in Hyderabad, the capital city of the newly formed state of Telangana in India. The venue of Interspeech 2018 is the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), a state-of-the-art facility with the capacity to host conferences with over 5000 delegates. With over 800 million mobile phone users, the information technology (IT)-enabled services are faced with the challenge of dealing with day-to-day conversations in multiple languages with code-switching. The large speech research community in India is already addressing some of these issues with generous support from the federal and state government funding agencies, and the industry. The theme of Interspeech 2018 is “Speech Research for Emerging Markets in Multilingual Societies,” which is not only topical, but also apt for multilingual societies elsewhere in the world.
