• December 2014 ‐ RIDOT and Cumberland Police conducted Road Safety Assessment

• Numerous recommendations from assessment

• December 2015 – RIDOT and Cumberland Officials meet and discuss the recommendations

• Town would like to advance roundabouts at the 2 off‐ramps 

• Requires slight capacity improvements to Chapel Four Corners intersection and between Northbound Ramps and Chapel Four Corners 

• Install signal equipment (conduit and handholes) at Industrial Drive for future installation of traffic signal (if needed)

• Roundabouts can reduce high severity angle type crashes between 50‐80%

• Diamond Hill Road/Interstate 295 Off‐Ramps –

• Approx. 3,000 s.f. of property acquisition along the corridor due to the roadway widening (Property acquisitions mainly located at intersection of Diamond Hill Road/Old Diamond Hill Road and Diamond Hill Road/Industrial Road)

• Temporary Easements and Permanent Aerial Easements will be required for construction

• Utility Pole Relocation

• 16 Utility Poles that will require relocation due to the roadway widening

• Environmental Permitting

• Coordination with Interstate 295 Overpass Bridge Project

• Minor impact to Church frontage (within RIDOT ROW)

• Finalize Conceptual Design – March 2016 (dependent on Town approval)

• Begin Final Design – May 2016

• Complete Final Design – Late 2017/Early 2018

• Begin Construction – Mid‐Late 2018

• Construction Complete – 12‐18 months (estimate only‐ subject to change once final design is complete)
