IT & Communications Roadmap
GTE+ Workshop on GTE+ Work Programme24 June 2008
• Lack of coordination re data exchange and IT
related matters
• Inconsistent adoption of existing industry
standards
• Growing need for coordination and
harmonization at EU level• Requirement for interoperability re data &
communications
• Need for common reference source for
development of technical codes
Drivers
• Deliver EU wide guidance plan on:– Data exchange principles & criteria
– Could include “duty to inform” & restrictions on use of data
– Rules for data exchange– Recommended data formats & exchange protocols
– Consultation process for new formats and protocols
– Adoption principles and implementation
• Produce “Handbook” for use in technical code
development
Objective of “IT and Communications Roadmap”?
• 1st Phase:– Information gathering, analysis of commonalities and
differences
– Coordination of activities with other stakeholder
bodies
• 2nd Phase:– Key issues and requirements identified through
consultation and analysis
• 3rd Phase:– Development of Guidance plan (delivery in 2010)

Procedure on Harmonisation of Maintenance Publication
GTE+ Workshop on GTE+ Work Programme24 June 2008
Drivers
• Planned maintenance periods are already published by the TSOs (website, bulletin board, …) or made available through ad-hoc documents BUT…
• Publication is not harmonised (timing, access to information, nature of works performed, impact, communication channel)
Objective
• To streamline the communication about planned maintenance amongst TSOs and between TSOs and market participants
• By providing market participants with a standardized planning of works and interventions (impact, file format, communication channel…)
Planning• 1st phase: drafting of a document stating the current
practices with regards to maintenance publication by GTE Business Rules sub-Working Group. To do this, a questionnaire will be drawn up and sent to the GTE members
• 2nd phase: gather the feed-back from market participants collected either through a workshop or via a consultation process
• 3rd phase: develop and valide a final version of the
procedure on harmonisation of the maintenance publication
