With the lack of support of STEP AP 212, (previously identified as too generic and too complex to implement) there is no international standard available for electrical harness information interoperability.”…The next priority of the aerospace industry was to “ensure the availability of interoperability functionality for the electrical harnesses and wiring systems in the following areas:

    § Ease downstream processes in the extended enterprise, § Interoperability between the functional and the physical electrical harness design, § Migration of legacy data to new electrical harness systems,

    § Long term archiving and retrieval of physical electrical harness for certification, for support in operation, and for reuse,

    § Support interoperability of multi-disciplined, model-based design, based on an integrated standard (mechanical, composite, electrical).”
