Trainee Program

INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE

Each year, Scognamiglio International Law Firm recruits outstanding law students to participate in its trainee program. These students receive an opportunity to expand their legal knowledge through actual experience within an Italian law firm.

Trainees will be engaged on a variety of tasks, including attending group meetings, visiting court, drafting memos and conducting research.

Close monitoring of the program by senior lawyers assures trainees exposure to a variety of legal experiences, skills development and important feedback and guidance.

We encourage trainees to participate actively in the work of our teams, and we offer our trainees many opportunities to explore different aspects of the legal profession with the best mentors possible.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THIS TRAINEE PROGRAM ARE:

To introduce law students to the practical aspects of legal practice through a variety of well-planned and monitored assignments.

Trainee Program

SELECTION CRITERIA

Participants Last year or just graduated law students who meet the firm's screening-selection qualifications.

Qualifications International students completing the last year of law school standing in the top of their class. Candidates are selected through a screening process that includes interviews conducted by the firm. Fluency in English is a must.

DurationThe average training period is 3 months, applications are accepted trough all the year.

PREPARATION OF THE INTERNSHIP

Your success at the Scognamiglio Trainee Program will be directly related to the degree of ownership and level of involvement you have both before and during the internship.

As the internship is confirmed we will assigne you a Legal Tutor that will be your guidance and help.

We would ask you to work alongside your assigned Legal Tutor and keep to any deadlines given to you in order make this internship a success for you.

Approximately four weeks prior to the beginning of the internship, you will be sent a list of Business and Legal Topics. We ask that you identify the Expertise Area you would be most interested. This will help us to prepare a specific program for you.

A TRAINEE PROGRAM TAILOR MADEThe firm conducts legal writing and research development seminars to address the specific needs of law students. Research reference documents are distributed to each Trainee at the beginning of the program.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENTTrainees develop skills and enhance legal knowledge through the experience of project completion and regular interaction with firm lawyers. They receive assignments that expose them to all areas of practice within the firm.

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPSThe firm arranges presentations on topics ranging from professional responsibility to attorneys personal insights into specific areas of law practice. The speakers are senior-level members of the firm who welcome questions from the trainees.

STUDY MODULESAlmost every week the Tutors present a study module, to introduce the Trainee to the Italian history, culrure and law. The following topics are going to be presented as standard program:

– History and culture (Roman history – Roman law)– History and culture 2 (Italian history – Italian law)– Actual form of Government– Legal system– Intellectual property– Litigation

Legal documents draft

LEGAL DOCUMENTS DRAFT

Trainees prepare motions, pleadings, research memoranda, leases, conveyances and transactional documents as well as conducting legal research, document control and discovery efforts.

WRITING PROJECTEach Trainee completes at least one substantive writing project that is carefully selected and reviewed by a legal writing mentor, after which there is flexibility to accommodate specific areas of interest and requests.

VISIT TO THE COURT

The firm encourages Trainees to attend trials, administrative proceedings, hearings, depositions, closings and arbitrations.

MEETING WITH THE CLIENTS

When appropriate, Trainees may attend internal client meetings, department and strategy meetings, and business negotiations and closings.

SOCIAL AND NETWORKING

The firm offers a variety of opportunities to meet and interact with the other firm members during casual social events throughout the internship. SocialMONTHLY ALLOWANCE

Living and Accomodation:

We take care of a monthly allowance to cover the cost of the accomodation and living of the students overseas.

(approx 5000RMB/Month)

Transport expenses: The interns will be reimbursed for transport expenses incurred for official duty.

Social events:

The cost of participation of the students to the social activities will be covered by the Law Firm.
