• What is U.S. UCAN?

• Is U.S. UCAN a separate network?

• How is U.S. UCAN staffed?

• U.S. UCAN is a program within Internet2 that is focused on supporting community anchor institution (CAI) broadband adoption and advanced use.

• No. The U.S. UCAN program relies on and utilizes Internet2’s backbone and regional network providers’ network infrastructure to provide CAIs broadband.

• Internet2 staff supports U.S. UCAN.• Three staff members and two part-time consultants are focused on U.S.

UCAN activities with the oversight of an executive sponsor, support from other Internet2 divisions, and strategic planning from an advisory council.

• Is there a fee to participate in U.S. UCAN?

• How is U.S. UCAN funded?

• What is the difference between U.S. UCAN and SEGP?

• U.S. UCAN focuses on leveraging all Internet2 resources (Network Services, NET+, Identity Management) and those of its regional partners to encourage advanced broadband adoption by CAIs.

• SEGP is a subset of U.S. UCAN that focuses on connectivity and content / programming for CAIs.

• U.S. UCAN formally expands the types of CAIs that can be connected through SEGP.

• No, there are no specific / separate U.S. UCAN fees.• Annual SEGP and RHCPP fees cover participation in U.S. UCAN.

• U.S. UCAN is funded through Internet2 revenues, including SEGP and RHCPP fees.
