Multimedia Presentation Project Organizer
Directions: Please review this document PRIOR to starting the project so you have: A) a sense of what is involved, and B) an understanding that this document should be consulted throughout the process so that you stay on track and meet all of the requirements for this project. At each step, there are alternate options for you to try should you feel adventurous. This is a self-paced, individual project so everyone in class will working on something different. Try not to get overwhelmed…focus only on the step you are on.

Step 1 – Selection of Subtopic Groups Random but balanced using keyboard letter bucket

Step 2 – Mapping your topic
According to Wikipedia, “a mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. A mind map is hierarchical and shows relationships among pieces of the whole.” Default map tool – MindMup 2.0 for Google Drive Other Options

Step 3 – Choosing Area of Focus You may do your PSA or video tutorial on the entire topic or any of the listed subtopics. Videos should be about 2 minutes in length.

Step 5 – Bibliography - Creating Citations (MLA style) Default Application – RefMe (Google Login) - create a new project after logging in and then start a new bibliography. Be sure to change style to MLA 7 with URL! Note: You can use most of these tools without logging in but it will NOT save your work! Other Options

Step 7 – Organize and Record Facts/Details in Notes (ONLY TEXT AT THIS TIME – NO GRAPHICS OR DESIGN RELATED MODIFICATIONS YET)
PowerPoint/Slides have a notes area – use it Other options like Prezi do not – you will need to use another application to create your notes (Word/Docs/PowerPoint…)
Remember: This is the most important part of the PSA presentation…the information you want the audience to know about. When adding your notes, add definitions, lists, statistics and other facts that explain the topic, not full paragraphs to read like a script. You should break the facts into small bits on each slide or frame.
Step 8 – Add Media for Actual Slides/Frames – Choose an Effective and Appropriate Design

Step 9 – Review and Modify According to Rubric
Actually read and check your work using the rubric. Example: One of the things the rubric will be looking at is the inclusion of your references so add your MLA citations from step 5 (and possibly step 8 if you used images from other locations) to the last slide or frame.

Step 12 – Record Presentation and Submit Final Product
Directions: You have 2 things to submit.
A.) Preferred method is to create an .mp4 file and submit it to the network assignment dropbox called “Internet Safety Project (.mp4)”. If your screencast is in a different format, there are converters listed on the class site. If the screencasting app only offers an online copy, provide the public link to it and put that in the assignment dropbox.
B.) Please also submit the presentation that was the basis for your video and place that into the “Internet Safety Project (.ppt)” folder. If your presentation was web based or a Google Slide presentation, add a document that includes the public link to it.
Step 13 – View Peer Online Safety PSA Videos Videos are located on the Grade 7 Student Work page Learn the other topics by watching the videos made by your classmates.
