Medical informatics is the application of computers, communications and information technology and systems for all fields of medicine –medicine care and medical education.

Definition :

A Literature search is a well thought out and organized search for all of the literature published on a topic.

A well –structured literature search is the most effective and efficient way to located sound evidence on the subject you are researching . Evidence may be found in books, journals ,government documents and the internet.

Potential of information technology to

improve research: Enhanced information retrieval through search engines such as Google and PubMed

Automation of patient information:

o Online registration

o Online surveys

o EHR recruitment of subjects
