CLEAN UP THE INTERNET - IT HAS BECOME A GARBAGE TIP
BLOCK ILLEGAL SITES SUCH AS SITES THAT PROMOTE RACISM AND TERRORIST ACTIVITY
IT WILL SLOW DOWN THE INTERNET
IT WILL COST LOTS OF MONEY BUT IT WON’T EVEN WORK BECAUSE THERE ARE WAYS TO BYPASS FILTERS
THE FILTER WILL NOT BE EFFICIENT – LOTS OF LEGAL SITES WILL BE BLOCKED ACCIDENTALLY
FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS A HUMAN RIGHT

What do we mean by censor?
censor - ban: forbid the public distribution of ( a movie or a newspaper)
censor - someone who censures or condemns
censor - subject to political, religious, or moral censorship; "This magazine is censored by the government"
The situation in China…
Strictest censorship in the world
At least 18, 000 websites are blocked. These include wikipedia, Youtube
Facebook, flicker. China have their own version of Google – www.google.cn
Certain search engine TERMs are blocked There are people in gaol for their anti-government
online activities People are paid to make pro-Government
comments on blogs
The situation in China…
In December 2009, the Gmail accounts of known human rights activists were hacked.
It is thought the hackers were Govt. officials
Google is reviewing operations in China.They do not wish to continue censoring
Google searches in China.
