The public was first introduced to the concepts that would lead to the Internet when a message was sent over the ARPANet from computer science Professor Leonard Kleinrock's laboratory atUniversity of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), after the second piece of network equipment was installed at Stanford Research Institute (SRI).

DisadvantagesWe are getting so use to of virtual communication that we are lacking a physical contact with our acquaintances. It is separating us from the real world around us, which I think smothers the development of personality of an individual.
