When to ApplyEarly applicants have the best chance to obtain admission decisions, scholarships, and housing preferences. Please note that the dates below refer to our receipt of the complete application package, which includes the application, application fees, and official transcripts and test scores.

July 1: Fall semester

November 1: Spring semesterProspective students must complete the online or paper-based application to be considered official applicants: www.mtsu.edu/intered/students.php.

SAT/ACT RequirementsThe SAT and ACT examinations are not required if you are graduating from a non–U.S high school or are a transfer applicant.

Academic RequirementsIn general, we require prospective applicants have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0. We will convert foreign GPAs accordingly.

English RequirementMTSU’s minimum English proficiency requirement may be met with one of the following exams. We will accept photocopies of your results with application materials, but official test scores must be received before you can be officially accepted. Official IBT scores are sent to us directly by ETS; official IELTS scores are sent directly to us from the testing agency in your country.

1. IBT TOEFL score of 61

2. IELTS score of 5.5

3. iTEP score of 3.6

4. Completion of ELS level 110

Our school code for TOEFL is 1466.

Academic RecordsPlease send us your official academic records from high school and college/university that are available when you apply, even if you are not finished with school.

1. Freshmen. If you never attended college/university upon graduation from high school, you are required to submit high school transcripts and a diploma.

2. Transfer. If you are enrolled at college/university and have obtained 24 credits or more when you apply to MTSU, you are required to submit your university transcripts, and you may be required to submit a high school transcript/diploma.

3. Exchange. If your university is an official MTSU partner, you are required to submit official transcripts from semesters you attended before applying to MTSU.

Official transcripts must be in a sealed envelope stamped by your school and sent directly to us. We do not accept scanned copies of academic transcripts. If your academic record is not in English, please include a literal English translation. For more information, please email [email protected].

Medical VaccinationsTennessee state law requires international applicants to submit the following vaccination proof/records in order for us to finalize and issue immigration documents (I-20):

• Proof of one (1) vaccination for Mumps, Measles, and Rubella (MMR). You may get your second vaccination once you arrive on campus.

• Proof of one (1) vaccination for Varicella (Chicken Pox). You may get your second vaccination once you arrive on campus.

Financial StatementYour financial statement must indicate the total amount of funds available to you annually. Please note that only the first year of funding needs to be documented with a bank statement or the form available at www.mtsu.edu/intered/documents/Undergraduate%20Financial%20Form%2013-14.pdf.

Communicating by E-mailUpon submission of your online application, you will receive a follow-up email from one of our admission counselors. You will be assigned a specific analyst who will guide you through the admission process.

If you contact us by email, please include the following in all messages:

• Your surname/family and given name (as written on your application)

• Your date of birth

• Your M number (You will obtain this when you submit the online application.)

We process applications on a first-come, first-served basis and do our best to review them quickly.

Supporting Admission MaterialsYou are also required to submit the following documents:

2. If you are already in United States and wish to transfer to MTSU, we will need photocopies of pages 1–3 of your I-20 and your visa page.

3. If you are now living in United States, you must use your U.S. residential address and also provide your permanent address in your home country.

4. If you are living abroad, you may use your current mailing address for your current address.
