1. ABOUT INTERNATIONAL TRADE PROJECTS (ITP) International Trade Projects (Pty) Ltd (ITP), established in 1996, is an experienced trade and investment promoter through the medium of consulting and strategy development, exhibitions, event-management, business networking, public relations and marketing. Our dedicated, skilled and proactive team enables our South African clients to develop their business internationally, and assists foreign governments, organisations and companies with their marketing initiatives in Sub Saharan Africa. We provide our clients with practical strategies and services designed to enhance their profile in Africa, to meet with potential business partners and to develop sales for their goods, services and technologies in the local and international market.

In March 2015 International Trade Projects was contracted by Apex-Brasil (the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) to support initiatives planned by Apex-Brasil in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as to provide professional assistance in the organisation of international events in the region. 2. SERVICES AND CLIENTS

2.1. International Trade and Investment consulting and strategy: ITP has outstanding experience in the field of international trade and investment development. Much of our work (including many of the events which we handle) begins with consulting on trade and investment opportunities and the development of marketing strategies for our clients wishing to "go international" or to "grow their profile" in Sub-Saharan Africa.

SOFTEX (the Software Industries Association of Brazil); Enterprise Ireland; The City of Johannesburg (Department of Economic Development); Development@Work; South African Electrotechnical Export Council (SAEEC); The Western Cape Investment and Trade Promotion Agency – South Africa (WESGRO); Soy Southern Africa (SSA) and the City of Cape Town in conjunction with the Cape Town Fashion Council.

2.2. Support services for international agencies, development programmes and consultants in the

SADC region: ITP aims to stimulate cross-border dialogue in order to foster inward investment and trade. This is offered through ITP’s experience in working with international development programmes, its SADC-wide contact network and its track record in organising and facilitating regional workshops and seminars. Programmes with which ITP has had particular experience include the EU/Ntsika Trade and

Investment Development Programme (TIDP); the EU-SADC Investment Promotion Programme (ESIPP); PRO€INVEST; BizClim; the TradeCom Facility; the Brazilian Machinery Builders Association (ABIMAQ), the USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub, the US Department of Agriculture and WiSHH (the World Institute for Soy in Human Health).

2.3. International B2B Matchmaking Services: These are offered to international business delegations

and companies travelling to South and Sub-Saharan Africa. Services include research, contact identification, appointment scheduling, business seminars and venue and event management. The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil); the Brazilian Service of

Support for Micro and Small Enterprises (SEBRAE); the Turkish Furniture Export Group; Enterprise Ireland; the Canadian High Commission; the Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA); Enterprise Mauritius; the Namibia Investment Centre; the City of Bucheon (Korea); The Central Anatolian Exporters’ Union; the Turkish Furniture Export Group (Turkey); The Government of Catalonia (Spain); The Brazilian Plastic Institute (INP) Export Plastic Programme of Brazil; The Brazilian Toiletry, Perfumery and Cosmetic Association (ABIHPEC) and the IESE Business School of Barcelona.

2.4. Business Forums and Investment Seminars: ITP services include the development of marketing

databases; event promotion through dispatch of targeted invitations, advertising and public relations; response handling; event logistics (venue liaison, catering, delegate registration, audio-visual and translating services) and on-site event management. The EU-SADC Investment Promotion Programme (ESIPP); the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan

Municipality; Mozambique Investment Promotion Centre (CPI); the Embassy of Cote d'Ivoire, the Barcelona City Council; the Principality of the Asturias Region of Spain; General Electric (GE); Enterprise Ireland; the Brazilian State of Pernambuco; and the Brazilian Poultry Association (UBABEF).

2.5. Market research and contact identification: ITP provides research services for local and foreign clients on the Sub-Saharan Africa marketplace in various industry sectors. Subjects covered include production and trade statistics, duty structure and barriers to entry, channels of distribution, industry issues and key contacts. ITP clients include The Textile and Apparel Industries Association of Brazil (ABIT); the Ntsika

Enterprise Development Agency; the Province of Gauteng; ABICALCADOS (on behalf of the Brazilian Footwear sector) and a market research project conducted in Israel and South Africa for Billiton SA Ltd.

2.6. Exhibition management and marketing in South and Southern Africa: Full exhibition management services including stand design and construction, visitor promotion campaigns, exhibition logistics (venue liaison, registration, security, cleaning, etc.) and on-site event management. ITP is able to organise solo-country exhibitions as well as participation in existing industry exhibitions in South Africa. ITP has undertaken exhibition projects for embassies and high commissions including Thailand,

Pakistan and Cote d'Ivoire, as well as for the Confederation of Indian Industry. ITP has also worked closely with Exhibitions for Africa, Specialised Exhibitions and PennWell in both international visitor, exhibitor and delegate promotion in sectors as diverse as science and technology, hospitality and catering, IT, hardware, energy and power distribution, and the building and construction sectors. ITP also launched the South African International Airport Showcase exhibition.

2.7. Exhibition training: We specialise in developing and facilitating practical exhibition training

programmes in a range of sectors. Our training covers both local and international exhibitions and includes such practical issues as choosing the right exhibition, preparing a budget, planning the stand display, staff selection, negotiation skills, and exhibition follow-up. Projects handled include exhibition training for SMEs in the craft and tourism sectors for the

Tourism Enterprise Programme (TEP; training for crafters on exhibitions in the USA for the SAIBL fund; an introduction to exhibitions for fashion designers for the City of Tshwane; exhibition training for SMEs in Port Elizabeth; and an exhibition visitor training programme for USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub.

2.8. Editorial services and production of marketing materials: Writing, editing and proof reading of

documents, as well as design and production of brochures, press releases, etc. Cape Town Trade Promotion Fund; International Trade Centre in Geneva; Quarterly Journal for

Trade Partners and Investors (International Marketing Council of South Africa); Small Enterprise Development Agency; and all editorial management for both country and company profiles for the ESIPP Agro Industry Policy Dialogue Workshop held in Tanzania in 2008.

2.9. Media relations: ITP assists foreign representatives to grow their relations with the South African

media. Services include the development of media lists, preparation and distribution of press releases and arranging of press conferences and one-on-one media interviews.

2.10. Tourism and cultural events: ITP organises gala dinners, craft festivals, culinary promotions,

tourism displays and national day celebrations.

During the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup TM ITP assisted the Brazilian Government with a country branding and trade promotion event called the “Brazil Sensational Experience” to launch Brazil’s hosting of the 2014 FIFA Football World Cup TM. This event took place over the course of a month and entailed various individual events as well as day-to-day event management. The Brazilian partners included EMBRATUR (The Brazilian Tourist Board), Apex-Brasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), The Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Science and Technology. ITP’s key roles during this event included the management of certain aspects of the marketing/advertising, individual event promotion and management, cleaning and catering, registration and hostess services, youth tour assistance, photography, venue set-up and office equipment management, overall assistance with the event.

The Brazilian Machinery Builders Association (ABIMAQ): ITP identified, invited and secured a number of South African Agricultural and Industrial Machinery/Equipment companies (importers/traders/agents) to visit and participate in B2B Meetings at the Agrishow 2010 and Mecanica 2010 trade exhibitions in Brazil (2010)

SAEEC Export Strategy: ITP was invited to join a team of consultants to develop an export strategy for the South African electronics sector on behalf of the South African Electrotechnical Export Council (2010)

The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil): Brazil’s Trade Mission to Angola and South Africa 2010. ITP managed the South Africa leg of this trade mission to Africa. The mission consisted of B2B meetings for 17 participating Brazilian companies in the agriculture, construction and building materials, home and furniture, industrial machinery, food and services sectors (2010)

2011

ABIMAQ – Machinery Association of Brazil: ITP identified and obtained detailed company profiles for a group of 20 African companies and 10 South African companies for review by ABIMAQ with a view to invite 9 of these companies to attend the Agrishow 2011 exhibition in São Paulo. All 9 companies which were approved successfully attended Agrishow and new business contacts were developed between Africa and Brazil in the agricultural sector. (2011)

USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub: ITP was contracted to develop training materials and to deliver an in-country exhibition visitor training programme for a group of 45 business representatives from the agricultural sectors of Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. These companies were attending the NAMPO exhibition in South Africa and our role included providing logistical support for the incoming delegation. (2011)

ABIHPEC - Brazilian Toiletry, Perfumery and Cosmetic Association: beautycare BRAZIL Mission to Africa 2011: ITP was contracted to organise a Mission to Africa in 2011. This task included research to identify, visit and recruit buyers of cosmetics, toiletries and fragrances from selected African countries as well as from South Africa. The mission was attended by 12 African buyers from Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Mauritius and meetings were also organised with leading South African buyers in this sector. (2011)

INP – Brazilian Plastic Institute - Export Plastic Programme of Brazil: Six Brazilian manufacturers of plastic products exhibited at SAITEX 2011. ITP was responsible for scheduling appointments for the group with South African counterparts on the exhibition stands. (2011)

UBABEF - Brazilian Poultry Association – Seminar and Networking Cocktail: UBABEF hosted an important press conference, seminar and networking cocktail to inform South African importers, retailers and food service companies of this important Brazilian export sector. ITP assisted UBABEF with all aspects of the organisation of this event including public relations, logistics and event marketing. (2011)

The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil): Brazil’s Trade Mission to Mozambique, Angola and South Africa 2011. ITP managed the South Africa leg of this trade mission to Africa, and provided guidance to the local management team in Mozambique and Angola. In South Africa, the mission consisted of B2B meetings for 35 participating Brazilian companies in the agricultural technology, home and construction, machinery and equipment, food and beverages, and medical and dental equipment sectors. (2011)

Montgomery Exhibitions: ITP managed the Africa visitor promotion campaign for the Securex exhibition held in Johannesburg in September 2011.

The Western Cape Investment and Trade Promotion Agency – South Africa (WESGRO): ITP formed part of a team of consultants who compiled an Accelerated Exporter Development Programme for the Western Cape Province of South Africa. The Programme focussed on two key elements – Export Mentorship and Export Market Linkages. (2011)

2012

ABIMAQ – Machinery Association of Brazil: ITP identified and obtained detailed company profiles for a group of companies from Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Mozambique for review by ABIMAQ with a view to invite 6 of these companies to attend the Agrishow 2012 exhibition in São Paulo. All 6 companies which were approved successfully attended Agrishow and new business contacts were developed between Africa and Brazil in the agricultural sector. (2012) USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub: ITP was contracted to develop training materials and to deliver an in-country exhibition visitor training programme for a group of 110 business representatives from the agricultural sectors of Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and Malawi. These companies were attending the NAMPO exhibition in South Africa. (2012). Following the exhibition post show review sessions were conducted in each country.

IESE Business School of Barcelona: ITP organised a business meeting programme in Cape Town and Johannesburg for a representative of the IESE Business School of Barcelona on the school’s first marketing visit to South Africa. Meetings were organised with 14 leading South African companies in the same week as the Financial Times nominated IESE as the world’s number 1 business school in the world for Executive Education. United States Department of Agriculture and the World Institute for Soy in Human Health: ITP organised and promoted a USA Food Security Seminar in Johannesburg on behalf of the two lead organisations and a number of important US food partner associations. The seminar was attended by over 85 representatives of South African importers, traders, associations and publications. (2012)

Specialised Exhibitions and Montgomery: Promoted attendance by trade visitors from the SADC and East African region at three key industry exhibitions held in South Africa: IFSEC, Interbuild and Electra Minining

Thailand Trade Show Cape Town 2012: ITP planned and managed all elements of this successful trade show on

behalf of the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government. SADC-wide Africa Visitor Promotion Campaign for the Interbuild, ElectraMining and IFSEC exhibitions in

Johannesburg on behalf of Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, and Montgomery Africa

NEPAD Bioenergy Investment Symposium for the SADC Region sponsored by the ACP Business Climate Facility (BizClim). ITP organised this benchmark event in Johannesburg, formulated to enable NEPAD (The New Partnership for Africa’s Development) to bring together leading experts and developers in biofuels, biopower, waste to energy, and renewable sectors to debate and discover new ways to facilitate investment across a broader category of bioenergy enterprises in Southern Africa.

IESE Business School of Barcelona: ITP organised an alumni event in South Africa where a leading academic of the IESE Business School presented to IESE alumni and interested companies.

Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA). Research, strategy development and workshops to investigate the viability for hosting an exhibition for local producers in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. 2013 Development of a growth and sustainability strategy for Soy Southern Africa (SSA) for the World Institute for Soy

in Human Health (WiSHH) Strategic planning workshop for SSA to develop an action plan to achieve its goal of becoming a sustainable organisation able to effectively support South Africa’s soy food sector. United States Department of Agriculture and the World Institute for Soy in Human Health: ITP organised and promoted a Seminar in Johannesburg focusing on food nutrition solutions for Africa on behalf of the two lead organisations and a number of important US food Co-operator associations. The seminar was attended by over 95 representatives of South African importers, traders, associations and publications. ABIMAQ – Machinery Association of Brazil: ITP identified and obtained detailed company profiles for a group of companies from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Malawi, Kenya and Ghana for review by ABIMAQ with a view to invite 6 of these companies to attend the Agrishow 2012 exhibition in São Paulo. All 6 companies which were approved successfully attended Agrishow and new business contacts were developed between Africa and Brazil in the agricultural sector. Specialised Exhibitions and Montgomery Africa: Promoted attendance by trade visitors from the SADC and East African region at four key industry exhibitions held in South Africa: Propak Africa, Hostex Gauteng, IFEA and IFSEC SA.

City of Cape Town: On behalf of the City of Cape Town ITP undertook a review of the Training Programme offered by the Cape Town Fashion Council within its Fashion Industry Development Programme.

Thailand Trade Shows 2013: ITP organised the Thailand Trade Shows 2013 on behalf of the Office of Commercial Affairs at the Royal Thai Embassy in both Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Namibia Investment Seminar: ITP hosted a high-profile Investment Seminar in Johannesburg for the High Commission of Namibia.

US-Sub Saharan African Agricultural Trade Mission: ITP organised B2B meetings for a leading group of American agro-industry exporters led by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), in conjunction with the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) and the US Embassy in Pretoria. The meetings were held in Johannesburg with Sub Saharan African and South African counterparts.

Turkey – South Africa Electrical–Electronic Trade Mission to South Africa: ITP organised a series of B2B meetings and site visits for a leading group of Turkish exporters led by The Istanbul Electrical–Electronics, Machinery and Information Technology Exporter's Association (TET)

IESE Business School of Barcelona: ITP assisted with the Cape Town logistics for the first Africa Experiential Week, an optional module within the Global CEO Program.

Abicalçados – Brazilian Footwear: As part of a South African Market Research Campaign undertaken by Whitehouse & Associations, ITP undertook a series of research surveys, interviewing footwear buyers, agents, wholesalers and retailers.

ABIARROZ – Brazilian Rice: A four day meeting programme was organised in Johannesburg and Cape Town for a research visit undertaken by Brazilian Rice in a market assessment process.

APLA: Brazilian Ethanol Cluster: Meetings were arranged in Durban in the course of a market assessment visit by a representative of the Brazilian Ethanol Cluster.

RETOSA: We provided strategic and editorial support to Whitehouse and Associates for the development of a Tourism Investment Promotion Handbook on SADC countries for the Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa.

2014

PennWell Corporation: African Delegate Promotion Campaign for the 2nd POWER-GEN Africa Conference and Exhibition, and 1st DistribuTECH Africa Conference and Exhibition in Cape Town. Turkish Kitchenware Cluster: Organised B2B Meetings in Johannesburg as well as site visits for a trade mission led by the Turkish Kitchenware Cluster.

BRASIL TRADE Mission to Africa 2014: ITP organised B2B Meetings in Cape Town for BRASIL TRADE, a project of Apex-Brasil and CECIEx (the Brazilian Council for Import and Export Houses). This project included identifying, inviting and managing all travel arrangements for 16 buyers from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Angola for one full day of B2B Meetings. This was followed by a dedicated B2B Meeting day with South African buyers.

East African Grain Council visit to NAMPO 2014: On behalf of the USAID East Africa Trade Hub we coordinated and managed a visit by a delegation from the East African Grain Council to NAMPO 2014. This included accommodation, transport, pre-event exhibition briefing and setting up meetings with key players from Grain SA and NAMPO.

Montgomery Africa: African Visitor Promotion Campaign in selected African countries to grow visitor attendance at the IFSEC, Interbuild, Electra Mining Exhibition and IFE Africa exhibitions

Apex-Brasil Trade Mission to South Africa: Organised B2B Meetings in Johannesburg for the Apex-Brasil Trade Mission to Johannesburg in July 2014. The programme included pre-event briefings, one full day of B2B meetings and a series of retail visits.

Brazilian Furniture: Prepared a Meeting Schedule in Johannesburg and Cape Town for a Prospective Mission by representatives of Furniture Brazil – a programme of Sindmóveis with the support of ApexBrasil

US Department of Agriculture: Organised a Business Networking Breakfast for US exhibitors at the International Food Exhibition Africa (IFEA) to meet with key importers, distributors and retailers.

SUSTA (Southern United States Trade Association): Organised a series of Market Visits and B2B meetings for US companies participating on a trade mission to Cape Town

2015

In March 2015 International Trade Projects was contracted by Apex-Brasil (the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) to support initiatives planned by Apex-Brasil in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as to provide professional assistance in the organisation of international events in the region. Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania: ITP organised a business meeting programme in Johannesburg for the Executive Director of The Wharton Business School on the school’s first marketing visit to South Africa to promote their Executive Education and Custom Programmes.

PennWell Corporation: African Delegate Promotion Campaign for the 2nd POWER-GEN Africa Conference and Exhibition, and 1st DistribuTECH Africa Conference and Exhibition in Cape Town. This project included a VIP African Delegate Campaign, as well as a general African Delegate Campaign, promoting attendance from Africa.

Apex-Brasil Trade Mission to Sub-Saharan Africa: This project included identifying, inviting and managing African buyers from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to participate in the B2B Meetings with Brazilian suppliers in Johannesburg on 27 July. This was followed by a dedicated B2B Meeting day between Brazilian suppliers and South African buyers on 28 July. Furthermore, ITP appointed and managed the Matchmaking companies in Mozambique and Angola who had to identify and match suitable buyers from their countries to meet with the Brazilian suppliers. The B2B Meetings in Maputo took place on 30 July, and the B2B Meetings in Luanda took place over the period of a week during the FILDA exhibition.

FEAFRO Brazil: ITP supported Apex-Brasil in the promotion of FEAFRO (a Brazil – Africa Trade Exhibition held in Sao Paulo in October 2015) to African buyers. Through ITP’s efforts 29 buyers from South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Kenya and Nigeria attended the event as sponsored buyers. ITP staff members were on site in Brazil to assist with the project management.

Country Research Reports: In August 2015 ITP prepared detailed country research reports on Mozambique, South Africa, Angola and Nigeria for Brazilian companies wishing to do business with these countries.

Trade Marketing Project: ITP set up meetings in October 2015 for Apex-Brasil with leading South African supermarket and restaurant chains to inform them of trading opportunities with Brazilian companies.

Trade Enquiries: ITP assisted in the handling of trade enquires from African companies for a wide range of Brazilian products: sugar, coconut water, rice, butter, poultry, agricultural machinery, books and publications, catering equipment and ceramic tiles

2016 Automotive industry research: On behalf of Apex-Brasil we undertook research into the motor industries of South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria and Angola.

Plastics Industry Research: A report was undertaken into the South African market for plastic products and opportunities for Brazilian companies to supply into this sector.

ABIMAQ – the Brazilian Machinery Builders Association: We promoted the Agrishow (agricultural machinery) and FEIMEC (industrial machinery) exhibitions outside Sao Paulo in May 2016 and secured sponsored attendance by buyers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Nigeria.

ABIMO – Brazilian Health Devices: Reviewed Brazilian companies exhibiting at Africa Health 2016 and identified and invited suitable South African buyers to meet with them at the exhibition.
