Compulsory Attendance
F.S. 1003.21. The School Attendance Review Committee will
target 5 excused or unexcused absences and excessive
absences

• May be accumulated by tardiness, early sign-outs, or daily

• Once a pattern of non-attendance has been established, a
statement must be provided to the school to explain the

Attendance Documentation
As delineated in the International Studies Academy Student-
Parent Handbook, all absences must be reported to the
Attendance Clerk/online Absence Note within 72 hours of the
absence in order for it to be excused.

Students have two days to make up assignments.
Students who are externally suspended cannot make up
assignments.
Parents must complete the Student Absence Note and attach
any necessary documentation when a student is absent. This
can be found on the ISA website under the Parents Tab then
click on Attendance.

Traffic Pattern(Arrival)
• All parents will enter through the main gate on Van Buren Street.
• Cars must enter the school parking lot to drop off students.
• Cones and personnel will guide the traffic pattern.
Parents, you will not be allowed to pull up to the front of the
school to drop off your child.
You will not be allowed to park across the street (on the grass or
apartments areas).
Parking at City Hall is prohibited.
Cars can be towed at owner’s expense.
All parents will be given a (BLUE) decal to be placed in their
vehicle and a (COLOR) grade level dismissal tag.
Traffic Pattern(Dismissal)
ISA will have a Silent Dismissal System.
Every grade level will receive a different color
dismissal tag to be placed on your dashboard.
9th Grade –Blue
10th Grade – Yellow
11th Grade – Pink
12th - Orange
• While you are in line to pick-up your child, your
tag will be scanned.
• An alert will be sent to your child’s teacher to
dismiss.
• DO NOT pull up to the front of the school to pick-
up students.
• At 2:55 pm if your child is not picked-up they will
be sent to after-care.
According to Florida state law, the school is responsible for
students only 30 minutes prior to and 30 minutes after a
school activity.
• 12:30 pm during early release days unless the student is
attending a school-sponsored activity.
• Students who stay after school must be under strict
supervision of a faculty or staff member.
• Student must remain in their designated areas for tutoring,
make-up work, practice and/or rehearsals.
Mini Care/After-care• Any middle school student that is not under the direct
supervision of a faculty member will be placed in ISA
aftercare.
• Students will be charged $20 per day if taken to ISA after-
care.
• Parents will assume responsibility for all fees that are
accrued.
• All students placed in ISA after-care must be picked up by
4:00 pm on early release days, and 5:55 pm on regular days.

Code of Student Conduct
Cellphones/Electronic Devices• Cell phones may not be turned on inside the building.
• Cell phones must be switched off and left in the students’ book bag.
• Cell phones may only be used outside of the school building and only outside of school hours.
• During inclement weather only, students will be permitted to use their phones to contact parents from the main lobby
areas only.
• Any student who is found to be in violation of this policy will have their cell phone confiscated.
• Cell phones will only be returned to the parents after 3:00 pm the following school day. At this time a parent
conference will be required.
• Repeat violations of this policy will result in future sanctions.
• Any phones not claimed by the beginning of the following school year will be disposed.
• Any student found to be using any phone or device to take photographic images, record sound or to communicate
with other students within the building without prior permission from the administration will be subject to full
administrative proceedings.

Merit Program
Merits - Students will receive recognition at the end of every nine weeks and will qualify for a selected field trip depending on their level of achievement.

20 Students will receive (Silver Certificate) for achieving an EXEMPLARY level of merits.

BLUE CERTIFICATES / 15 MERIT POINTSStudents will receive a BLUE certificate when they reach 15 merit points during a nine-weeks. The blue represents the ADMIRABLE behavior attained. The student must continue to exhibit positive behaviors to be rewarded with a dress-down day during the end of the nine weeks
SILVER CERTIFICATES / 20 MERIT POINTSStudents will receive a SILVER certificate when they reach 20 merit points during a nine-weeks. The silver represents the EXEMPLARY behavior attained. The student must continue to exhibit positive behaviors to be rewarded with a dress-down day and a pizza partyduring the end of the nine weeks
GOLD CERTIFICATES / 25 MERIT POINTSStudents will receive a GOLD certificate when they reach 25 merit
points during a nine-weeks. The gold represents the SUPERIOR
behavior attained. The student must continue to exhibit positive
behaviors to be rewarded with a dress-down day, pizza party and an
end-of-year field trip
• All students are required to wear straight cut, full length Khaki pants, with school logo on the side. (No skinny pants, cargo pockets, unusual tailoring, or jean material.)
• Pants that are too big or too tight for the student are not acceptable.
• Should a religious exemption be needed to wear long skirts rather than pants, please see the school office for a form to take to the uniform store to purchase the required skirt with school initials.
• Belts must be worn at all times; belts must be plain, black or brown leather belts and fastened securely at waist level.
• Shirts must be: Navy blue polo shirt with an embroidered school logo (all shirts must be worn tucked in) OR White, collared, button-down shirt with embroidered school logo OR Blue and white collared, long-sleeved Rugby shirt with embroidered logo.
• A maximum of one (1) button may be left unfastened at the top of any shirt
• Once school clubs/classes begin activities, students will be permitted to wear a club shirt or class shirt with uniform pants on Fridays.
Uniform Policy
• Shoes Must be closed, solid black, brown shoes or white. Matching laces must be worn.
• Jewelry is limited to one (1) watch, one (1) ring, and one (1) small chain. Chains must be worn inside of shirts and are not to be visible except at the back of the neck.
• All uniform must be clean and pressed at all times; good grooming of hair, skin and fingernails is expected at all times.
• All headgear (hats, scarves, bandannas etc.) is forbidden on school property.
• No buttons, tags, or labels may be worn on the school uniform unless approved by the administration.
• A student’s ID must be worn around the neck on the outside of their uniform visible at all times. This is a security mandate.
Uniform Policy
• During cooler weather, the following are permitted:
Navy V-Neck, Crew Neck with school logo or Rugby shirt.
• Navy Zipper Sweatshirt or regular sweatshirt with school
logo (No hoodies allowed).
• All sweaters/jackets from All Uniform Wear must include the
school’s name/logo.
• Coats may only be worn outside of the school. Absolutely no
outside jackets will be allowed inside of school buildings. All
coats worn must be solid school colors only.
