ECTS Label is awarded to European University Cyprus by the European CommissionEuropean University Cyprus is the first and only institution throughout Cyprus and Greece, to receive the highestaward, ECTS Label (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation of Credits) by the European Commission. Thisis an important distinction in the field of Higher Education, recognizing, through this process, the excellentperformance of European University Cyprus. It is worth noting that with this European recognition, EuropeanUniversity Cyprus is placed among only 40 universities throughout Europe holding the ECTS Label.

The ECTS is a 'learner-centered' system involving the accumulation and transfer of credits, and aims to achievetransparency of learning outcomes and learning processes. Participation in ERASMUSEuropean University Cyprus participates in ERASMUS, which focuses on educational mobility through exchangeof students, academics and administrative staff of universities in the member countries of the European Union.Furthermore, ERASMUS aims to familiarize one with the culture of the member countries of the EuropeanUnion. The University applies the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation of Credits (ECTS), which ensuresthe mutual recognition of studies between universities that have signed exchange agreements. EuropeanUniversity Cyprus has signed 114 agreements under the ERASMUS program in 26 EU countries. General Admission RequirementsThe criteria for admission to European University Cyprus have been set to enable the Office of Admissions toselect students who have the ability to do university-level work and to place students in courses and programsappropriate to students’ academic preparation, in an effort to help them successfully realize their full academicpotential.

Our students come from many parts of the world and bring with them a wide range of academic disciplines,experiences, special interests, talents and cultural backgrounds. The Office of Admissions aims to form a studentbody which will give the opportunity to each student to share education and grow in experience as a memberof an international community.

All applicants must have completed a secondary (high) school education or twelve years of schooling or theequivalent, to be considered for admission το undergraduate study, or hold a Bachelor’s degree for post-graduate study.

Candidates who have successfully completed studies at an accredited university may be exempted fromrespective courses in the program they will attend at European University Cyprus, thus reducing the period ofstudy to obtain their degrees. For the evaluation of transferred courses candidates must submit a copy of theirtranscripts to the Office of Admissions.

Procedure and Criteria for International StudentsInternational students will need to submit the documents/payments listed below to the Office of Admissions,PO Box 22006, 1516 Nicosia, Cyprus at least two months prior to the beginning of the semester in order to beadmitted to the university and comply with Immigration regulations.

1) Application and Documents n A completed application form together with a non-refundable fee of €52. n An attested copy of high school leaving certificate and mark sheet (in English). In the case of Master’s

degree students, an attested copy of Bachelor’s Degree and transcript (in English) is also required. n An attested copy of valid passport. The passport should have a minimum validity of two (2) years. n An attested letter of good conduct (in English), from the police authorities in the student’s country

of citizenship, indicating clear criminal record. The letter of good conduct is valid for no more thansix (6) months.

n Attested health certificates (in English) for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis and chest X-ray report(for tuberculosis). The health certificates are valid for no more than four (4) months.

n An attested bank letter together with a recent bank statement (in English) confirming that thestudent or sponsor (mother or father) has sufficient funds to finance the student’s fees and livingexpenses in Cyprus. The amount indicated on the bank letter and bank statement must be at least€7,000 or above. The bank letter is valid for no more than six (6) months.

n Two passport size photographs.

2) Payments Total payments of €3,500 which include the Application Fee of €52, the Estimated Tuition for the first

semester of €3,012, the International Student Guarantee of €350 and the Immigration Application Fee of€86 (non-refundable), will have to reach the Office of Admissions by August 1, if applying for the FallSemester, by December 1, if applying for the Spring Semester and by April 1, if applying for the SummerSession. These amounts should be sent after an applicant receives an acceptance letter from the university.The payment will have to reach the Office of Admissions through a bank transfer.

NO applications will be accepted by the migration office unless the University presents receipts for all thepayments requested.

Due to variations in the cost of tuition per program of study, final adjustments to tuition fees will be made

after the student registers at European University Cyprus. Any remaining balance, after adjustment of tuitionfees, will be transferred towards the tuition fees of the next semester. No refund will be given to studentsfor any credit balance remaining in their account.

3) Student visa Your application for admission to European University Cyprus is subject to approval by the Ministry of

Education and Culture and the Cyprus Migration Office. All international students need an entry visa toCyprus. For certain nationalities, student visas are issued in Cyprus where as for others, they will need toapply for a student visa from the Cyprus Embassy/Consulate in the student’s country of citizenship. Differentattesta tions of the above documents are required, depending on your country of citizenship. Note: Refund Policy.n A student who fails to register because he/she has not completed the process of admission or an entry visa to Cyprus was

rejected is entitled to a refund provided the Office of the Registrar is notified in writing. An administrative charge to covervisa and bank expenses of €175 will be deducted from the student’s payment.

n A student who fails to register even though an entry visa was issued, is entitled to a refund provided the Office of theRegistrar is notified in writing. An administrative charge to cover visa and bank expenses of €175 and the InternationalStudent Guarantee of €350 will be deducted from the student’s payment.

n A student who fails to register even though an entry visa was issued and the student has arrived in Cyprus, is entitled to arefund provided the Office of the Registrar is notified in writing. An administrative charge to cover visa, bank expenses andother expenses of €500 and the International Student Guarantee of €350 will be deducted from the student’s payment.

4) Arrival Check-listWhen entering Cyprus all international students should also have the following with them, otherwisethey will be denied entry to Cyprus:

a. The copies attested by the Embassy/Consulate or the visa (entry permit) issued by the MigrationAuthorities of Cyprus.

b. The receipts of European University Cyprus indicating payment to the university of €3,500 (ApplicationFee €52, International Student Guarantee €350, Estimated Tuition Fees €3,012, Immigration ApplicationFee €86).

c. Official bank receipts from the bank in your country to prove the transfer of payment to the university. d. Cash in hand of at least Euro €2,000 to cover personal expenses (meals, books, accommo dation, etc). e. Acceptance letter from the Office of Admissions. f. A valid passport.

Students will be given a Temporary Student Visa at Larnaca Airport. A Temporary Residence Permit (Pink Slip) willbe issued after students arrive at European University Cyprus and complete all necessary admission, registrationand payment requirements.

Further more, international students holding a student visa must be enrolled for full-time study.

Semester SystemEuropean University Cyprus follows the semester system of higher education. The academic year consists of twosemesters, one in the Fall Semester (beginning in October and ending in January) and one in the Spring Semester(Beginning in February and ending in May). A shorter Summer Session (optional) is also offered in June andending in July. The expected time to complete an undergraduate degree program (Bachelor Degree) is fouryears, while for graduate studies (Master Degree) is 18-24 months. The system of study is based on credit hoursand ECTS. A degree is awarded after successful completion of the curriculum, as determined by each School.

Scholarships for Incoming StudentsEuropean University Cyprus has a special pricing policy for International students that cover up to 30% oftuition for an undergraduate program of study (Bachelor Degree) and 20% for a graduate program of study(Master Degree). The special pricing policy is valid for the academic year 2012-13. Recipients will be able tocontinue receiving the tuition reduction until the completion of the selected program of study.

Scholarships for Current StudentsEuropean University Cyprus grants scholarships based on academic performance. Students have theopportunity to receive scholarships of 10% to 40% depending on the average grade secured in the academicyear. The scholarship is granted in the form of tuition reduction for the subsequent academic year.

Accommodation and Cost of LivingEuropean University Cyprus has its own private apartments near the campus. The total capacity of the Universityapartments is 180 people. Single, double, triple and quadruple apartments and studios are available. Theapartments are fully equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, living room and air conditioning systems. The monthlyrent for student apartments ranges from €225 to €525 depending on the choice of apartment. Costs forelectricity, water and heating are not included in the rent.

As space is limited the application for accommodation must be submitted, preferably by the end of July orearlier. Details of the cost of accommodation and services are provided by the Housing Office. Additionally,the Housing Office has a list of private apartments / houses for rent very close to campus. Typically, the rent fora one-bedroom apartment is usually between €450 and €500 a month, two-bedroom is between €550 and€650 a month, while the rent for a three-bedroom apartment is between €700 and €800 a month. The cost ofliving in Nicosia depends on the lifestyle of each individual. For the average student it is calculated between€450 to €550 a month.

On the University campus a cafeteria-restaurant, offers meals and snacks at regulated prices. The cafeteria-restaurant is open daily from 8:00am – 9:00pm except Saturday and Sunday.

Student Life and ServicesStudent life is an integral part of the experience a student will get at EUC, as it offers unique opportunities todevelop leadership and communication skills. European University Cyprus has 26 student clubs that organizevarious educational, cultural, artistic and recreational activities. The Clubs are sponsored by the Office of StudentAffairs and organize several events and activities such as music nights, ethnic festivals, field trips, a studentnewspaper and more. European University Cyprus places great importance on sports as it participates inuniversity competitions and championships. There are currently futsal, handball, volleyball and basketballUniversity teams. European University Cyprus has its own indoor sports centre and gym.

The Office of Student Affairs is focused on offering a large variety of services for better support, guidance andempowerment of our students in order to properly address the challenges of the new era. Such services includepick up from the airport, orientation of new students, personal advising, career counseling and other.

The Office of Employment and Career Services aims to correctly guide the students on their career choicesand support them in the job search process. The Office of Employment and Career Services, invitesdistinguished professionals from a wide range of local enterprises to inform students about career prospectsin their chosen field and to advise students on their job search strategy. The most important activity of theOffice of Employment and Career Services is the organization of the annual "Career Exhibition" where studentsare informed on the current trends in the labor market and employment opportunities.
