MANY avenues to support International Projects:

1. Members, the Club or the WCR Foundation can donate directly to an agency or NGO.

2. We can apply to TRF (The Rotary Foundation) for a grant.

3. Three types: District – handled at District Level Global – Larger scale, has matching funding.

Packaged – Predesigned, easy, just buy in.

2001-2 - The Wheelchair Foundation: WCN donated 85 out of a container of 240 Wheelchairs to Bellingham’s sister

city in Terra Del Fuego Chile $6,700.00

Many individual donations of $75 each. Some given in honor of anniversaries, etc.

2013 Adopt a Village – Sarippur Village, Bangladesh

Health: *900 mosquito nets primarily to expecting mothers and infants *Furniture, equipment for a primary health dispensary *C.I sheets each to the selected poorest families for making house. *One-year supply of anti-worm tablets. *60 tube wells for clean water *60 latrines (Each well and latrine will serve about 7-8 families)

Hunger: *250 families will receive 20 chickens *100 families will be provided with black goats for nutrition and income. *50 3-wheel rickshaws *20 sewing machines *5000 fruit and wood trees *Vegetable seeds to 500 families.

2013 Adopt a Village – Sarippur Village, Bangladesh

Education: *40 benches to the local public primary school. *10 sets of tables and chairs *200 children that have dropped out of school will be provided with school supplies if they will attend school. *200 children will be provided with school clothes *150 older men will be provided with literacy education.

Shakti Samuha “A Group That Empowers”

Shakti Samuha is the first organization in Nepal to be established and run by survivors of trafficking. In 1996, 500 girls and women were rescued from slavery in Indian brothels during widespread police raids. Among these were 148 Nepalese girls and women.

Mahar

An organization that cares for and shelters destitute women and children. Operates 24 children’s and women’s homes, caring for 650 children and 193 women. Total number benefited since 1997: 1,974 women and 1,832 children. Future plans: homes for mentally disturbed women, expectant mothers, self help groups, educational projects and many more.

CONCULSION

Any club member can propose an International Project.

Any club member is welcome on the International Projects Committee.

Most projects (International or Community) get done because they have a champion.

International trips to see the results of our club projects have been one of my

favorite parts of Rotary.
