International School of Hellerup March 19 th 2018 End of Year Exhibition The Art and Personal project exhibition at International School of Hellerup featured a lot of different works, all very unique and awesome. It was very inspiring to witness the end of such a long journey to complete these pieces and finally see all the hard work all the students had put into it. So many different things were showcased and also so many different medias were explored. By Maria Ostermann s much as I loved all the projects, there were two that especially caught my eye, due to my own personal interests. For the MYP5 Personal Projects, Astrid Ramnæs’ video about social anxiety caught my attention, and for the DP art, I was very fascinated by Theo Maillard’s works about sound and art and Sofia Ruby Diane Strand’s photograph. A Astrid Ramnæs, MYP5: Astrid had created a short film about social anxiety, POST IT, used post it notes to bring her across to the audience. She also designed her installation area very specifically and setting the mood for watching the film. She had her entire MYP5 class have a discussion about social anxiety and they helped her write on the incredible amount of Post It notes all over the walls. Also, for the exhibition goers, there were new Post It notes available for us to write our own note. All of this I found Exhibition 2018 1 Photo: Maria Ostermann

s much as I loved all the projects, there were two that especially caught my eye, due to my own personal interests. For the MYP5 Personal

Projects, Astrid Ramnæs’ video about social anxiety caught my attention, and for the DP art, I was very fascinated by Theo Maillard’s works about sound and art and Sofia Ruby Diane Strand’s photograph.

AAstrid Ramnæs, MYP5:Astrid had created a short film about social anxiety, POST IT, used post it notes to bring her across to the audience. All of this I found very

effective and beautiful. It really set the mood for us when we were to go and watch the movie in the little booth, and the amount of work put into this was mind-blowing. I don’t even know how many Post It notes were written, but every single one of them had a little message on them, and I loved the fact that at the exhibition she involved the audience by letting us write our own message.

Her short film was also very good and definitely managed to get her message across, which was for people to raise awareness and for other people to recognize social anxiety. Everything seemed perfectly made. Her actors were great, the location was great, the editing was great, the actual filming was great,

and it was a nice story that really did raise awareness. I read in her appendix that there were a lot of challenges that caused changes in the actual story, but I think she managed to deal with these difficulties very nicely – it did not feel like anything was supposed to be different.

Theo Maillard, DP2:In DP art, Theo Maillard’s works were very interesting. Especially his photography pieces called Sound’s Way that uses our senses sound and sight. He quoted a musician named John Cage: “Everything we do is music” and Theo recreated this visually. He had been around in Copenhagen and taken visually stunning

photographs of things that had a sound. The photographs were then colored black and white, while the soundwaves were colored. In his installation, he had headphones so that we could hear the photographs. This was so fascinating as it was almost like the photos had come to life. I loved the fact that throughout his entire installation of artworks had the same theme of making the audience see, hear, and feel. He had also set the mood for his entire installation area, which was really nice.

Sofia Ruby Diane Strand, DP2:Another photography piece that I found very well-done was this one made by Sofia Ruby Diane Strand. Let me just get to the point – every single thing about this photograph is gorgeous! I love all the details she effortlessly

included – the forest was a very well-picked location. Especially the light is stunning and really enhances the photo. I found the concept of the mirror very interesting and the mirror reflecting the forest is just beautiful. It almost looks as though the there is a hole going through because it is so clear. The mirror is a visual representation of the inner self, and I believe Sofia got this message across quite well by concealing the body with the mirror. Even though a lot of work has gone into this photograph, it looks so effortlessly aesthetic, but that is also what makes it great.
