Daniel J. Pesut is the Director of the Katharine J. Densford International Center for Nursing Leadership at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, and Professor of Nursing, Population Health and Systems Co-operative Unit. He holds the Katherine R. and C. Walton Lillehei Nursing Leadership Chair. Dr.

Pesut earned a PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science degree in psychiatric mental health nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas, and his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University. He holds certificates in management development from the Harvard Institute for Higher Education and in Integral Studies from Fielding Graduate University. He is a certified Hudson Institute coach. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, and a board certified clinical nurse specialistinadultpsychiatricmentalhealthnursing.Dr.Pesutisapastpresident(2003-2005)oftheHonorSocietyofNursing,SigmaThetaTauInternational.HeistherecipientofmanyawardsincludinganArmyCommendationAwardwhileonactiveduty(1975-1978)intheUSArmyNurseCorps;theHonorSocietyofNursing,SigmaThetaTauInternationalEdithMooreCopelandFounder’sAwardforCreativity;andTheAmerican Assembly for Men in Nursing Luther Christman Award. Pamela Randolph has had an extensive career in practice, education, and regulation. She has practiced nursing as a staff nurse, public health nurse, school nurse and pediatric nurse practitioner. She taught nursing in both associate degree and baccalaureate nursing programs in the areas of basic medical surgical, pediatrics, leadership, physical assessment, pharmacology, and baccalaureate concepts. During her teaching career, she served as a Board Member andPresidentoftheArizonaStateBoardofNursingandasVicePresidentoftheArizonaMedicalBoard.Forthepast16years,shehasworkedattheArizonaStateBoardofNursing,firstasEducationConsultantthenasAssociateDirectorof Education and Evidence-Based Regulation. As part of her role, she participated in research on the safety of using

medication technicians in nursing homes and was instrumental in developing and testing a nursing competency measurement using simulation. TheresultingNursingPerformanceProfile(NPP)isthefirstreliableandvalidtestofnursingcompetencyusingsimulation.In2013,asleadauthorof, “Measuring competence: collaboration for safety” published in the Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing,shereceivedtheJournal’sInnovationaward.Herotherarticlesonrefreshercoursegraduates,medicationtechnicians,andstandardizedtestinginnursingprogramshavebeen published in peer-reviewed journals. She has spoken to statewide and national audiences on numerous topics relating to safety and regulation.ShewasinstrumentalinleadingArizonatodevelopthefirstadvisoryopinionontheuseofsimulationinpre-licensurenursingprograms. That advisory opinion incorporates the INACSL Standards of Best Practice: SimulationSM. She recently retired from her regulatory position and started her own consulting business, PKR Nursing Education Consult. Current projects include continuing research on competency performance,mentoringofdiversestudents,andsupportingtheArizonaActionCoalition.

Hayden vanguard presentatIon: june 24, 2017susanna r. Cohen, dnp, Cnmuniversity of utah

Susanna Cohen is the recipient of the INACSL Hayden Vanguard Lectureship, sponsored by CAE Healthcare. Recipients of this lectureship have contributed to the discipline and moved simulation forward in a meaningful way through research, program innovation, evaluation, or a similar scholarly product.

Susanna R. Cohen is a Certified Nurse Midwife, Associate Professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing, and co-founder of PRONTO International. She received her Bachelor of Science at the University of California, Davis, her Masters in Nursing at the University of California, San Francisco, and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University

of Utah. Susanna is a global expert in the field of low-tech high-fidelity simulation facilitation, debriefing and curriculum development. Susanna has collaborated with PRONTO on implementation trials in Mexico, Guatemala, Kenya, Uganda, and India. She is a co-designer of the PartoPants™ (lowtechbirthsimulator),andofthePRONTOPack™(simulationtrainingpackage).Shereceivedthe2016ExcellenceinInnovationawardfromThe International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning. As faculty at the University of Utah she has integrated simulation throughout the preservice curriculum, collaborated on the team-training of all obstetric staff at the University of Utah Hospital and is the lead trainer for faculty facilitating Interprofessional Education. Susanna lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, 2 children, and 8 chickens.
