SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGECENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE DEVELOPMENT
The Center for International Trade Development (CITD) at Southwestern College is funded by the Chancellor’s Office of California Community Colleges Economic Workforce Development Initiative. Southwestern College CITD assists San Diego and Imperial County’s small businesses and entrepreneurs through no-charge one-on-one business counseling, resources, and referrals. Additional assistance includes: export assistance import assistance documentation international financing international market development due diligence; export and import compliance logistics trade leads trade missions international contracts foreign investment in California international trade seminars internationalization of curriculum NAFTA and other trade treaties
CUSTOMIZED TRAINING
Businesses may contract with Southwestern College Center for International Trade Development (SWC-CITD) to obtain fee-based training relevant to their specific international business training needs.
Examples of such training include how to export to a specific country, compliance with new homeland security regulations, international business protocol, international negotiations, documentation, and more.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Prepares students to work in industries involved in, but not limited to, cross-border and international trade. Develops skills that can be utilized internationally, including planning operations, transporting goods, inventory and warehousing, and supply chain management.

INTERNSHIPS
A component of the Logistics and Transportation Certificate/A.S.
Degree Program includes an internship for a minimum of two units
and up to 16 units.
Students may use their existing employment for this
internship requirement if it is relevant to logistics
and transportation. Students may also obtain an
internship through Southwestern College.
Internships allow students to gain practical, hands-on
experience in the field of logistics and transportation
which can be applied to future employment. For students
seeking further information regarding internships, or for

Southwestern College Logistics and Transportation Certificate/A.S.
Degree Program promotion is funded by a Department of Education
Title VIB grant awarded to Southwestern College Center for International
Trade Development (CITD.)
This grant seeks to institutionalize and enhance the Logistics
and Transportation Certificate/A.S. Degree Program of
Southwestern College. The Logistics and Transportation
Certificate/A.S. Degree Program trains the region’s workforce
in the latest logistics and transportation methodologies,
ultimately increasing industrial efficiencies, bringing jobs
and income to the San Diego region and offering
upward mobility options for practitioners, students,
and others interested in this field.
Southwestern College Logistics and Transportation
Certificate/A.S. Degree Program prepares
individuals for international trade related clerical and
administrative careers in warehousing, distribution,
transportation, and inventory. The program focuses
on logistics and transportation issues along the San
Diego-Tijuana border region. But the knowledge and
skills acquired by completing the curriculum also
prepare students for careers at the national and
international levels.
The program is designed for the working individual,
part-time or full-time student. The majority of classes
are offered online and some are presented as a hybrid
(a combination of online and classroom time at the
SWC Higher Education Center- in Otay Mesa or at the
Chula Vista Campus).
Employers may wish to enhance their business
productivity by enrolling employees in the Logistics and
Transportation Program. Individuals may wish to enroll
in the program to enhance opportunities for upward
mobility or to acquire a viable career path. The Logistics
and Transportation Certificate/A.S. Degree Program
offers two different certificate programs: Basic and
Intermediate. An Associate in Science (A.S.) Degree in
Logistics and Transportation is also available. Students
who continue their studies at a four-year university may
major in supply chain management, logistics, or other
related fields.
SWC graduates are versed in the latest logistics and
transportation methologies used in cross-border and
international trade transactions. For further information
