The Rangelands Ini'a've The Interna*onal Land Coali*on’s Rangelands Ini*a*ve supports government and other actors to influence the development of enabling policy and legisla*on, and/or implement these in a way that beAer supports produc*ve and sustainable rangeland use. Through jointly iden*fying solu*ons based on innova*on and prac*ce the Ini*a*ve aims to make rangelands more secure for local rangeland users.
Ac'vi'es Ac*vi*es of the Ini*a*ve include: • Research. • Facilita*on of informa*on exchange and peer learning. • Consolida*on of good prac*ce. • Adapta*on of good prac*ce to local contexts. • Pilo*ng and demonstra*on of innova*ons. • Engagement with governments and con*nental bodies working on land issues in rangelands. • Provision of seed money for ac*vi*es/processes. • Networking and linking different sets of actors. • Strengthening the voice of rangelands users in land-‐related decision-‐making processes. • Documenta*on and knowledge management.

An'cipated results Governments will be beAer informed and have a higher level of capacity to develop and implement policy and legisla*on that enables and supports local rangeland users and produc*ve rangeland systems. Experience sharing and learning ac*vi*es will provide opportuni*es for communi*es and those that work with them to share their own experiences, with decision-‐makers and other actors. Par*cular aAen*on will be given to otherwise oRen-‐marginalised groups such as women, youth and indigenous peoples. ILC members’ capacity to work with governments and other actors on land issues will be strengthened through the engagement and support programs, and the learning and collabora*ve ac*on promoted.

Objec'ves The objec*ves of the Rangelands Ini*a*ve are: 1. To develop or strengthen collab-‐ ora*ve partnerships with the common vision of improving the tenure security of rangeland users. 2. To facilitate the sharing of lessons learned and experiences, in order to influence the development of policy and legisla*on, that will make rangelands secure. 3. To iden*fy, develop and/or scale-‐ up innova*ons and ini*a*ves, which assist governments and other actors to implement suppor*ng policy and legisla*on for rangeland tenure security.
