The 2009 - 2010 New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania State Pageants will be held October 2nd, 3rd & 4th at the Hilton East Brunswick Hotel in East Brunswick, New Jersey. At the Hilton East Brunswick Hotel, you will enjoy a memorable visit and impeccable service.

Q. Must I stay at the host hotel?

A. You will be glad you did! Staying

at the host hotel helps to make your pageant experience more enjoyable since each of the events will be held at the Hilton East Brunswick Hotel. The convenience of staying at the host hotel is unbeatable. There are several wardrobe changes during competition and events throughout the weekend. There is no hassle of finding a parking space and rushing to your events. And after the day is done, simply take the elevator up to your guest room for a good night’s sleep.

Opening Production: Opening Production tops are $25 each. You will need a pair of blue denim bottoms (jeans, capri pants or shirt for the opening production). No shorts please. Tops will be available for pick-up at registration.

Pageant Tickets: Weekend badges for all competitions are $10 - $25 per person. Everyone except the contestant must purchase a weekend badge to attend the weekend competitions. Children 3 years and under will be admitted free.

Pajama Party: Come and join us for the best pajama party ever! Attire: Pajamas. Bring a pair of NEW pajamas or books to be donated to the Pajama Program.

MORE ABOUT OPTIONAL COMPETITIONS:

Optional Competitions are exactly what they say they are, optional. You are not required to enter the optional competitions, as they have no bearing on the overall outcome of the pageant. TALENT COMEPTITION: Entry Fee $50

• You may enter up to two talent performances during the optional competition.

• Each talent performance is scored individually and counts as its own entry.

• Talent performance may not be longer than 2 minutes.

• If music is to be used, it must be turned in on a CD and must have a definite end to the song that you are using.

• Your talent CD is due at registration. You must also bring one back-up copy with you to the competition to keep in the dressing room or audience.

• Individual talent rehearsals will not be held during the competition weekend.

• All talent performances that require speaking or singing (does not include cheer competition) must use a microphone.

• All props must be small enough to be carried onto the stage by no more than one person.

• All props should be a functional part of your talent performance.

• Any equipment other than a piano, microphone and sound equipment must be supplied by the participant.

Talent is scored based on entertainment value, skill and overall presentation. The talent winner will receive cash prize of $100* and trophy. The first and second runner-up in each talent division will receive a trophy.

CASUAL WEAR MODELING COMPETITION: Entry Fee $50

• Causal Wear can be any type of casual clothing.

• Denim is allowed in the casual wear competition. Ideal outfits for spring casual wear clothing are capri pant, sundresses, skirts and tops, pant and blouse combinations.

• Pro-am routines are not allowed. • Modeling instructions will be

given at the rehearsals and must be followed.

Casual wear modeling is scored based on modeling technique and overall presentation. The Casual Wear Winner in each age division will receive a cash prize of $100* and trophy. The first and second runner-up in each casual wear division will receive a trophy.

SPOKESMODEL COMPETITION:Entry Fee $50

The Spokesmodel competition is limited to one entry. State queens and national titleholders will soon become spokesmodels for International Junior Miss. Contestants must deliver a 30-second “speech” on their inspirations…..IJM….I Just Might. Sign language, singing, acting or rhyming is not allowed.

Examples….. I Just might become . . . . . . . . . a doctor . . . . . the first woman president . . .. a movie star . . a dancer

Attire: Interview Suit or Dress.

Spokesmodel competition is scored based on content and overall presentation. The Spokesmodel Winner in each age division will receive a cash prize of $100 and trophy. The first and second runner-up in each spokesmodel division will receive a trophy.

PHOTOGENIC COMPETITION: Entry Fee $50 (limit two entries)

• Photogenic pictures should be at least 5 x 7 inches and no larger than 8 x10 inches in black & white or color.

• Photos are due at registration and must fit inside an 8 x 10 sheet protector.

• Do not mail your photo.

• You may enter the photogenic competition up to two times.

The winner of the photogenic competition in each division will receive a cash prize of $100* and keepsakes trophy. The first and second runner-up in each photogenic division will receive a trophy.

IJM SPIRIT AWARD:

The IJM Spirit Award Trophy is a great keepsake to take home to show your spirit of competition from the weekend of the International Finals. It’s easy to do, and IT’S FREE. To earn a spirit award trophy, all you need to do is add up the total amount of points below and turn in your spirit award entry form. A participant with 8 or more points automatically qualifies for the IJM International Spirit Award.

Spirit Award Points: Pageant Competition (2.5 pts); Talent Competition (1 pts); Casual Wear Competition (1 pts); Photogenic (1 pt); Supermodel with Style (1 pt); Spokesmodel Competition (.5 pts); Program Book Ad Sales (2 pts per full page, 1.5 pts per half page, 1 pt per quarter page and spotlight ad 0.5 pts).

Full Page Ad: $400

Half Page Ad: $200

Quarter Page Ad: $100

Spotlight Ad: $75

The Program Book Deadline is September 15, 2009. Please return your photo to: PO Box 63, Atco, NJ 08004 or email your photo to: [email protected]

Anyone selling five pages of advertisements, will receive a $300 Cash Scholarship or their entry paid to pageant competition. In order to receive a free entry, you must turn in your ad layout and payments three weeks prior to the first day of your state pageant. If you have paid fees toward your entry, you will receive a reimbursement check within three weeks. Cash Scholarships will be awarded at Orientation.

The contestant turning in the highest total in ad sales* will win the State International Junior Miss Cover Girl Title, Crown, Sash and a $500.00 Total Cash Scholarship. Qualifying runner-ups will receive a total of $300.00 in Cash Scholarships. The Cover Girl Award will be presented onstage with the Cash Scholarship. The maximum Cover Girl Ad Sales cash award is limited to $500.00. *To qualify for the Cover Girl title and awards, contestant must sell at least 12 full pages of advertisements or the cash equivalent. This can be done in any combination. We will not crown more than one Cover Girl. All ad layouts and fees must be in to the state pageant office three weeks prior to registration. Do not hold your checks until the deadline. Ties will be broken by the postmark date.

IJM Scholarship Fund:Each State Delegate is required to raise money or make a donation in the amount of $50 to the International Scholarship Fund. The State Scholarship will be awarded on a per division basis. We will only accept an average of 50 delegates per division at the state level. 50 delegates in a division x $50 delegate donations (maximum entries allowed per division) equals $2500.00. All donations must be made by cash or money order and should not be included in your sponsorship payment. Credit Card or Debit Card payments will not be accepted for the scholarship fund. All scholarship donations are to be made payable to IJM Scholarship Fund. Scholarship Payment donations are due on at registration on the first day of your state pageant.

*Optional Competition Cash Awards:Optional competition cash awards are based on five contestants per division participating in the optional category. Winners of optional categories with less than five participants in the division’s category will win a cash award of no less than the entry fee paid to enter the competition. Optional competition cash awards will be paid during the pageant weekend.

F. A. Q’s. . . . If I win the state pageant, must I attend the International Finals next July?

One of the most important duties of being crowned your state queen is to represent your state at the upcoming International Finals.

Will I receive my scores after the state pageant?

You can request your scores by sending an email to your state director. You should follow the example below:

Scores will not be sent automatically. You must email your request. Please do not include any other questions in the body of your email other than the request for your scores.

How soon can I receive my scores?

It normally takes 8 – 12 weeks for scores to be released. Please be patient.

If I do not win the state pageant, will I receive an invitation to participate at the International Finals?

Your state pageant is an official preliminary event which qualifies you to participate at the upcoming international finals.
