INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL SUMMIT 2012 - REVIEW

On November 22nd, 2012, REPUCOM’s

annual International Football Summit took

place in Cologne for the ninth time. Around

200 participants from more than 14 different

countries joined the congress, including

representatives of the likes of Adidas,

Manchester City, Audi, FC Barcelona, FIFA,

ING, DFL and FC Bayern Munich.

We heard fascinating presentations and

discussions on the topic of football business.

Among others, Emirates, ING and A.S. Roma

provided absorbing insights into their sponsor-

ship strategies.

In the afternoon session, tipp3 and the

Austrian Football Bundesliga outlined their

‘innovative strategic marketing model’ and the

effectiveness of synergies in football business.

Electronic Arts talked about their ‘Virtual

Bundesliga’ and FIFA presented the

‘Interactive World Cup’.

Later in the day representatives from Twitter,

Electronic Arts and FC Barcelona discussed

the topic ‘Football business meets social

media’ in the expert panel discussion.

An informal get-together at Harry's New York

Bar rounded off the day.
