Industry Overiew

Online monitoring is done on monthly or quarterly basis in surface waters and on half yearly basis in case of ground water. The monitoring network covers 445 Rivers, 154 Lakes, 12 Tanks, 78 Ponds, 41 Creeks/Seawater, 25 Canals, 45 Drains, 10 Water Treatment Plant (Raw Water) and 807 Wells. Among the 2500 stations, 1275 are on rivers, 190 on lakes, 45 on drains, 41 on canals, 12 on tanks, 41 on creeks/seawater, 79 on ponds, 10 Water Treatment Plant (Raw Water) and 807 are groundwater stations

Municipal Solid Wastes (Management & Handling) Rules, 2000 (MSW Rules) are applicable to every municipal authority responsible for collection, segregation, storage, transportation, processing and disposal of municipal solid.

CPCB has initiated online monitoring of industrial emissions/ discharges which is a significant step towards self-regulation in 17 categories of highly polluting industries apart from industries discharging their effluent into river Ganga or its tributaries

Green Energy means renewable energy that is vast alternative for the use of fossil fuels such as petroleum. Other conventional method used to provide electricity is such as geothermal, biomass, ocean, solar, wind, hydro, hydrogen fuel cells and etc. Biomass energy is derived from the wastes and animal dung either by burning it or just leaving the wastes to lay off by itself to get bio-fuel or bio-gas. Ocean energy is gained from the sea and there are two types of them such as thermal energy and mechanical energy.

In India, the automobile industry is one of the key sectors driving economic growth. More than 25 Mn vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two-wheelers were produced in FY17, which is one of the biggest contributors of pollution, which incidentally keeps the country’s capital shrouded in smog for several months every winter. As India hurtles towards an apocalyptic future, the Indian government is now racing to switch to all-electric cars by 2030.

Green building is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction. Green building is also known as a sustainable or high performance building.

Solid Waste Management:

Over the last decade, the Indian government has taken up a number of initiatives to augment the country's waste management infrastructure. Under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission, the government of India funded 49 solid waste management projects in various cities.

Liquid Waste Management:

Estimated Sewage Generation in India, during 2015, was 61,754 MLD as against Developed Sewage Treatment Capacity of 22,963 MLD i.e. 62% of the Total Generated Sewage.

E-Waste Management:

E-waste typically includes discarded computer monitors, motherboards, CRTs, PCB, mobile phones and chargers, headphones, white goods such as LCD, air conditioners, refrigerators India, which has emerged as the world's second largest mobile market, is also the fifth largest producer of e-waste, discarding roughly 18.5 lakh tonnes of electronic waste each year.

Green and smart building will reduce pollution and degradation of environment through efficient usage of energy, water and other resources supporting healthy living and productivity. The Government of India is actively introducing programmes which promote green and smart technology through their Smart City Mission to improve the quality of urban living.
