● Students take IB courses and complete assessments in six academic disciplines during the 11th and 12th grades

● Complete Theory of Knowledge seminar, Extended Essay, and CAS Program (each component spanning 11th and 12th grades, “concurrent” to the 6 Diploma Subjects)

Next Steps

To keep the most options open, middle school students should:

● take Algebra 1

● take Level 1 of French, Latin, Mandarin, or Spanish

● enroll in Honors-level classes

The 2011 study of IB students’ experiences after high school found that IB students graduated from college at higher rates, with 81% of IB students graduating within 6 years of enrolling full-time at a 4-year institution, compared to the national average of 57%.

Rising freshmen:

● Enroll in Honors courses

● Maintain enrollment in world language
