• Began in 1993 as a group dedicated to economists and policymakers working in the field of HIV/AIDS (21 years old)

• Operates a website since 1998 (www.iaen.org)

• Has provided face-to-face meetings prior to IAS since 2000 (Durban, Barcelona, Bangkok, Toronto, Mexico City, Vienna, Washington DC and Melbourne)

• Operates a LinkedIn group since 2010 (International AIDS Economics Network Group)

BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION GRANT

• November 2013: IAEN received a $1.1 million grant to build capacity in the field of AIDS and economics

• BMGF grant has 3 objectives:• Build capacity in 4 African countries (Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi and

Uganda)• Fund special economic studies in 6 countries (Zambia, Tanzania,

Malawi, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa)• Disseminate globally information about AIDS and economics

BROCHER FOUNDATION• IAEN has received approval to work in 2015 on the
