Design, creativity and emotionality are essential components in the interior decor and home textiles sector. Combining these and the aim of bringing young talent in the lime light, Messe Frankfurt and The Guild Designers and Artists (GDA) takes pride in announcing the Interior Lifestyle Awards.

Held concurrently with Ambiente India and Heimtextil India, the awards will honour upcoming talents in the categories of Interior Decor and Home Furnishing.

Applications are invited until 29th February, 2016.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee, a graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in India is one of the most highly regarded fashion designers of the country. After winning the Femina British Council’s most outstanding young Designer of India award and an internship in London, he returned home with edgier ideas and started retailing at major Indian cities.

Sabyasachi’s design philosophy is very simple and clear- ‘Personalized imperfection of the human hand’. He uses unusual fabrics, texturing and detailing, ‘fusion’ of styles, ‘patch-worked’ with gorgeous embellishments in a vibrant diverse color palette to make the feeling of going back to the ‘soul’.

He pioneered the use of Indian textiles, albeit in a modern context. His unique contribution was the use of indigenous methods like bandhani, gota work, block printing, hand dyeing etc in construction of modern silhouettes.

He has won many accolades at the Mercedes Benz New Asia Fashion week in Singapore, Miami Fashion Week of America and Lakme India Fashion Week. He earned the distinction of being the only Indian designer to be invited to showcase at the Milan Fashion week 2004 facilitated by Indo-Italian Chamber Of Commerce.

He opened his first flagship store in Kolkata. Sabyasachi aspires to grow a ‘people tree’ enterprise that encompasses Indian tradition, culture, and history and converts it into an intellectually and aesthetically aspirational global super brand. In 2011, he was selected as ”Designer of the Year” by ELLE magazine.

Sunil Sethi, connoisseur of Fashion, Luxury & Lifestyle products (Made in India), set up Alliance Merchandising Company, a sourcing and buying agency in 1988. Over the years he has represented elite designers and world’s reputed & well known stores including Anthropologie, Crate & Barrel, Armani Casa etc for their product development and buying out of India.

Since 2002, he has taken more than 25 Indian Fashion Designers to the International platform, selling their products under their own brands to notable stores like Selfridges, Golf & Co, Tsum, The Conran Shop, Habitat, Coin and other through his own company. He is also associated with many Indian Fashion & Design Colleges as Jury, speaker and Adjunct Professor.

To honour his contribution in the field of exports, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts which was presented by the Union Textiles Minister of India. Later, in 2006, the Carpet Export Promotion Council accoladed Sunil with yet another Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the exports sector. Sunil Sethi Design Alliance has made significant contribution by taking Brand India and Indian Designers to the International markets in the field of Fashion, Textiles and Handicrafts.

Currently Sunil is a part of the Li & Fung Group as Sr. V.P, heading divisions LIA, B and C in India. Li & Fung is a multinational company with extensive global presence and operating a sourcing network with 70 offices across 40 countries.
