A) Optimum utilisation of raw materials to conserve natural resources.

► Designed for durability – adherence to performance standards to enhance product life. High steel content in our products provides the requisite strength in lesser thickness, thereby reducing material usage as well as increase the overall life cycle of the products.

► Possibility of refurbishing for reuse – Knock down design of the products provide for ease of serviceability in terms of assembling, reconfiguring and dismantling them, making it possible to refurbish for reuse.

► Maximise recycled content.- products are designed with min 60% recyclable and recycled materials like wood substitutes (particle board, medium density fibre board). The use of recycled and recyclable packing material is mandatory.

A) Selection of low impact materials to reduce any toxic or hazardous input

► Majority of products are designed on Knocked Down design which help reduce the Cubic furniture Miles.KD design in metal storages enable us to reduce Cubic furniture miles by 70% thereby reducing automobile pollution. Godrej received the distinction to introduce world's first KD fumehood in laboratory furniture range

► Use of wood sustitutes to reduce impact on eco-system. All our products are 100% natural wood free.

► The selection of process of manufacture also depends on its environmental impact , hence process of Powder Coating is used in place of liquid painting which generates a lot of hazardous waste.

► Use of Low VOC material – use of low VOC boards and glues is specified for all products.

How do we Reuse, Reduce, Recycle

• Reuse means extending the 'life' or repurposing an product rather than discarding or throwing it away. The workstations are designed in such a way that the framework and the tiles can be reused.

• Reduce refers to lessening the amount of components or resources that are consumed, using only the amount that is needed, and looking for alternatives that will lessen our use. In our workstation we use steel extensively as it provides the requisite strength in lesser thickness. Also efforts are made to use universal hardware so that wastage is minimized.

• Recycle means to process old, used items or industrial waste in order that the material can be used to make new products. In the workstations, tiles stiffners, pedestal drawers are made of scrap generated in the factory.
