Bolivia y la interculturalidad

• The American Continent, AbyaYala, was discovered in 1492 by Christopher Columbus.

• In 1532 the Mr. Francisco Pizarro took Atahualpa prisoner.

• From this meeting, or the American Continent Abya Yala, is not the same.

• It had a different evolution.

• Since 1825, in the Republic of Bolivia has always had discrimination against women and indigenous people.

• Women didn’t have constitutional rights

• Indigenous people weren´t recognized by the state.

• Then in South America, I think the High Peru and in 1825 the Republic of Bolivar was founded which later changed its name to Bolivia.

• In 1825 the republic of Bolivia with 9 departments was created and adopted Spanish as the official language.

• The indigenous people and women are always discriminated.

• The State did censuses and they tried to minimize the peoples and nations that were in Bolivia.

• The laws don´t favor the participation of women in public administration.


• In Bolivia there has always been discrimination on the status, language and origin of the people.

• Bolivia was a state that wanted to hide their indigenous people and did not recognize them.


• But there was mutual dependence between town and country.

• Those who live in cities have always relied on products that farmers produce.


• Cultural diversity is recognized in various international instruments such as the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity (UNESCO, 2001) and the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity Cultural Expressions (UNESCO, 2005), Convention No. 169 OIT,

• And the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples of the UN September 13, 2007.

• In 2009, the Plurinational State of Bolivia, with nine departments was created. This constitution recognizes 36 official languages.


• Bolivia is defined as a "plurinational and intercultural" country in which the intracultural, intercultural and multilingual dialogue is encouraged, and the right to cultural identity of indigenous nations and people (arts. 1, 9th Nº 2 and 3, 30. Paragraph II. Nº 2, and 100. Paragraph I Nº 100. Paragraph III of the Bolivian Constitution).

• An everybody’s question.

• We learn from those around us, our environment.

• Una cuestión de todos y todas.

• Aprendamos de los que nos rodea, de nuestro medio ambiente.


• Todos diferentes, todos importantes.

• All different, all important.


• Todos somos diferentes por fuera y todos somos diferentes por dentro, pero…

• We are all different on the outside and on the inside we are all different, but ...


• All of us are born helpless ...

• Todos nacemos indefensos…

• Todos nacemos igual…

• We are all born equal ...


• We all learn throughout our lives ...

• Todos aprendemos durante toda nuestra vida…


• All of us like to play ...

• A todos y todas nos gusta jugar…


• Everyone likes to tell our stories ...

• A todos nos gusta que nos cuenten historias…

• We are all hungry if we do not eat ...

• Todos tenemos hambre si no comemos…

• We all like to laugh and have fun ...

• A todos nos gusta reír y divertirnos…

• Everyone likes to have friends and they want us.

• A todos nos gusta tener amigos y que nos quieran.


• All sometimes do not understand some things as much as we think ...

• Todos, a veces, no entendemos algunas cosas por mucho que pensemos…

• All, one day, say goodbye forever ...

• Todos algún día nos despedimos para siempre…

• So while we are somehow different

• Diversity strengthens us.

• Knowing more than one language allows us to know another world.

• La diversidad nos fortalece.• Conocer más de un idioma nos permite conocer

• Knowing two languages allows us to know two knowledges .

• Open your mind to diversity.

• Conocer dos idiomas nos permite conocer dos conocimientos.

• Abre tu mente a la diversidad.

• Diversity for Dialogue and Development .

• Respect for cultural diversity is peace.

• Diversidad para el diálogo y el desarrollo.• Respeto a la diversidad cultural es la paz.

• Knowing more than one language allows us to have multiple intelligences.

• Educating to meet, educate without exclusions.

• Conocer mas de un idioma nos permite tener inteligencias múltiples.

• Educar para encontrarnos, educar sin exclusiones.
