Escape from Slavery

• For fear of being sold she decided to escape. Her husband would not go, but instead she ran away with her two brothers. However, her brothers did not make it the whole way because they were afraid. She continued on without them and reached Philadelphia where she became a household servant. Being a servant she saved money so she could go back and save other slaves.

“Moses of Her People”• Harriet Tubman was known as the “Moses of Her People” because she was so well known for leading slaves to freedom.

• Many slaves sang the song “Go Down Moses” in hopes that their savior would deliver them from slavery just as Moses had in the Bible, delivering the Israelites from slavery.
